You could buy a Turbo timer that'l do it for you.
other than that id say bout 2-3mins for gentle driving
and hard driving depends on how hard, i had my old starbo's turbo timer once sitting at around 12mins after a good run/blast along the motorway-but generally 5mins would b ok i reckon.

If i've driven it to work i usually don't leave it running because it's such a short journey and i don't really boost at all.

But on longer runs to dundee or to see the girlfriend i usually give her at least 3 minutes, it depends on how she's been driven on the occasion.

Turbo timer is a godsend though.

Generally I hold a low gear, 2nd or 3rd to keep the engine speed up for the last minute or so of driving and then let the engine idle for around 10-15 seconds before shutting it off. After the car has been driven hard, I would never allow the engine to idle for any period of time and obviously never shut the engine straight off either. IMO, the cooling down of the engine, oil and coolant needs to be done when the car is still in motion and not left for when the car becomes stationary and the engine at idle speed.

why do you have to hav the engine in motion and not leave it on standard idle?.have to run the oil out of the turbo or what?

The engine will produce less heat when it's not under load and the cooling system will be more efficient when the car is in motion. So it makes more sense to allow everything to cool down before the car comes to a stop. A few seconds are then all that's required to allow the turbo to slow down before the oil pump stops pumping after the engine is shut off.

Exactly.
Only reason my turbo timer is still in, is the fact i have gauged wired into the spare out puts from it.
Its never switched on though.

Just drive it the last mile or 2 off boost then turn it stright off
