Hybrid CT9 vs TD04

Id go for a CT9 hybrid personally. Less work to fit and a whole lot cheaper.

Looking at the TD04 kits Ive seen for sale, the quality dont look too good me. Manifolds look as though they wouldnt last 5 minutes :p

Some TD04 starlets are not producing much over 200bhp. Dosnt seem worth the effort when you can get 200 + with a hybrid CT9.

hey u need to remember when a trader puts a tdo4l kit together its takes them time, money ,patience and a trust worthy and proper supplier. some traders like my self dont even make alot of profit with some products becuz i try to put foward a decent product and not kill members with a price tag and mark up. so remember not becuz its a little cheap the parts are not quality..for example if i were to sell a tdo4l kit for 1000-1200 gbp do u think members would want to buy ..trust me some would but the majority will just dream and not be able to ..... just thought i would share some of this info with u guys

thanks

go for tdo4, if your hybrid ever goes wrong its going to cost you just about another tdo4 kit to get a new one, i paid £40 for a more or less new tdo4 13g

@kelly - sorry didnt mean to drop it in the wrong section :)

i kinda think a hybrid maybe the better option though cost/insurance ect
whats the most power people have got from a hybrid??

a decent hybrid can run 220hp neway which is easily enough dude,

unless you wanna be going high boost then its the best option!

A good hybrid supplier will give you a warrenty.

IIRC with the TD04 kit you get everything but the turbo? That right?
Then you have to go source your own 2nd hand one which you do not really know the state its in. For all you know the turbo you source might need a rebuild.

How long has your TD04 kit been on your car for? Any problems with the decat or manifold?

Cheers

my tdo4 has been on the car for about a year and a half not had to change anything on the car it all, as far as the turbo bit is concerned its been perfect. i have a greddy tdo4 11g (downpipe, stock manifold adapter) and a dave burwash manifold

the td04 is a tough reliable turbo compared to the ct9. and the way to make the ct9 even less reliable is to hybrid it-heavy compressor wheel one side, small exhaust at the other and tiny bearings. if my td04 goes i spend 50 quid on another, hybrid costs 450.

just my opinion of course

Since all of u r talkin abt Hybrids and TD04s, can someone pls thelp me on these....

a) which TD04 fits in the stock mani with an adaptor?
b) what items are needed for complete TD04 installation?
c) where i can get the best hybrids or the TD04s?

Dave.

a)any td04 will fit with an adaptor.

b)
1) probably a smaller radiator
2)mani or adaptor plate
3)oil and water lines
4)downpipe to meet existing exhaust
5)Adapted air intake/intercooler piping
6)fuelling mods (ecu, piggyback or standalone)

c)for hybrids, check with Toby (ToyTuning in the trading section) DaveBurwash (Starletgtturbo.co.uk in the trading section) or wepr (WEPR in the trading section). For TD04's, on any scooby website they are very easy to come buy in the classifieds, or try ebay.

Idd pick and have picked the CT9 Hybrid over a Td04 due to the lag and total abscence of low end torque on the TD04, granted they do pull when they come on boost and stop spinning but then you only have about 1k or revs left, which doesnt float my boat.

No bother mate, I'd like to highlight that you shouldn't use the stock mani with a td04 under any cirumstances though :p Its a very poor design, especially for a higher flowing turbo like the td04.

make that 3000 revs:p

With 4WD you will be able to put the power down very well but the fwd users are going to have trouble in 1st, 2nd and 3rd if they are running reasonably high boost :). You can install LSD's and good tyres etc but you cant change the laws of physics!

How much boost are you running Ted?

hey, i wasnt having a dig mate, no way, iv been very tempted by one of your td04 kits myself,im at the same crossroads where i duno whether to go td04 or hybrid, so many people have there opinions on both but rarely backed up by evidence, ie rr printout etc. i wasnt saying your kit was rubbish or any other because i have never seen or experienced one, enough people have bought it so it cant be bad. but many people do say you get what you pay for...sometimes it's true sometimes it's not.

in my old fwd it hit a bar at 4000rpm and with the jam ecu could take advantage of more revs. any wet road would see endless wheelspin so i bought the 4wd and am just sorting my td04 setup.

even at a bar the td04 is impressive. could push it to 1.1 on a std engine
