appreciate all the help guys, think hes gonna have to go for a smaller engine! my first car was a 1.4 sr nova, pretty much the ultimate chav wagon, and i paid 1600. obviously expensive but for him on a 1.4 saxo your looking at 3500 plus, JOKES!

It may as well be insured on an M1 Abrams tank for all the good your policy is worth. What you're doing is call fronting. It's illegal and frowned upon by insurers, the police and those that actually bother to insure their cars properly. If you have a bump and the insurers get a whiff that you're the main driver, you'll be in for a shock.

you bastard. im paying 2000 with quinn on a 1.3 starlet. might be getting a gt next week so hope they wont charge the ass off me

i know every1 thinks its about the engine size but it aint as much as ud think i was quoted 2600 at 17 for a 1.4s fiesta so obviously kept looking managed to get insured through ecar for an xr3i for 2k which is a 1.6:) and my 205gti i got after was only an extra tenner a month:p still at 17. as for the gt turbo at 17 best quote i got was 3k after 1 years no claims payin 1700 through elephant.

so you would be best gettin the kettle on and trying every car you find interesting ,guaranteed you'll find a good quote even if the car is only worth 300quid and ure payin 2k insurance its worth it:)

The first car I insured on my own insurance was my GTti. It was 1400 (TPFF I think), car cost £1000, engine size 993cc, Insurance Group 11, not particularly low risk area - more high.

Put you mother and father on your insurance as named drivers, this will reduce the premium.

I'd advise doin Pass-Plus coz when I was 17 I had a mk3 fiesta 1.1 n was quoted £1400/year by Norwich Union but when I'd done PP then they dropped it by 49%......meant I only paid £700/year, which at 17 is cheap awesome insurance.

Hope this helps
