Integra turbo?

theyre not very reliable due to them being b series. d series is the one to turbo. keep the gt more fun to drive. thats why i sold the civic. and please dont tell me its the one with the carbon bonnet, ugly body kit with acura badges on it? if so take a long walk lol

Hmm dunno man, turbo'd vtec is appealing, think it would be more fun than a gt though, nah its not that one man, its white with a spoon sunstrip.

I have a mate who has a turbo da6 integra running a vf22 turbo + 60hp nos kit. 250hp at the wheels without nos.

goes nuts, use to smoke my starlet no problems at all.

you will still have vtec if you turbo it :homer:

mine is pushing 463bhp @ the flywheel, 400bhp @ the wheels, and around 340ftlb of torque... that was at 1.5bar, there was still more power to be had as we hadnt quite finished mapping it when the turbo shat itself :haha: (damn yanks put an oil restrictor on my turbo which starved it from oil) got another new turbo now so should be back up and running for the weekend.

turbo comes on song around 4.8 - 5k rpm, and vtec kicks in around 5.8 - 6k rpm, power starts to drop off just after 8.5k rpm

its too much power for fwd though so il be dropping the boost down to run around 400bhp @ the flywheel.

i think ive seen that teg your talking about mate, its got a evo td05, its been sold twice in a short space of time on pistonheads..

i wouldnt touch a forced induction vtec if its still running stock internals. they are high compression engines and not designed for forced induction. supercharged stock engines seem pretty reliable though, 250bhp is easily achievable and thats not stressing the lump too much.. the type r lumps are higher cr than the non type r lumps, would be better to turbo a non type r if you insist on running stock internals.

why would the v-tec go if you put a turbo on? :haha:

if i find an old civic or a 96 one for a good price i will get it for a daily driver with a small turbo tut :D

usually if you stick stage 3 cams in it takes away the vtec changeover. youtube could be useful here

your referring to "vtec killer" cams

A b series motor can handle boost all day long providing you build your engine accordingly. Im not sure who told you they were unreliable?

thats what i mean, need to replace pistons etc as their shape buggers about with detonation. iv seen a few where they turbo them and keep the boost down and avoid rebuilding?? pointless tbh the reason you put a turbo on is to make it bitchin!!!!

not the best designed piston for boost, although they are forged from factory

yeah i see what your saying BUT lol there is always a but :p

how many non turbocharged cars are there that can take over 300BHP on stock internals? As a thicker head gasket on the type R lump to low comp say in the 10's and you can run around 12PSI, on a large enough turbo your looking at around the 300BHP mark. On stock gasket around 9-10PSI is still pretty safe. If your on a good enough map it can be safe.

Even most turbo charged cars from factory cant handle much more then say 14-16PSI... And the Vtec engines put out more HP per pound of boost in comparison to other engines.

its been done enough times without issues, but then theres been quite a few with issues (forced induct a stock motor) lots of things to take into account like engine mileage, service history etc and some luck lol

if it were me id do it properly ie change the internals to suit, or not at all..

Vtec is controlled by a number of things not just revs:teach:
Oil pressure, water temp, road speed, throttle load all contribute to vtec engaging.
As for not feeling vtec when turbo'd thats alot of bull. The engine note changes and the revs swing round alot faster!
Noise? Vtec+screamer=

B series motors are quite robust for low blow setups, anything nearing 10psi and your limiting the life of the motor.
The stock head gasket is probably the best to use full stop.

Dan sorry to hear about your turbo, but some turbos need a restriction because the oil pressure will blow past the turbo oil seals. If i can remember of the top of my head the hole size should be .065"
But nice power pity boost comes in so late.

welcome to the site dude. getting a starbo? :p

You would have to be pretty empty headed to think vtec was only casused by revs lol...

Im fully aware its a number of things, not all the things i am aware of but i know its deeper then just revs :homer:

Nope, im happy with a boosted vtec. I do like Starlets though, and how cheap it is to get more power out of them.

Not according to post number 15. And if thats the case how come nobody else said?
