I had a reply back from them saying my questions were vague and advising if you feel you have been unfairly treated call this number. I replied and advised them that my questions were extremely simple and if they had questions regarding them or found them in any way ambiguous to ask for clarification.
Incidentally the questions were very simple and straightforward... they totally dodged them. Lets see what they come back with to this latest email.

i didnt know what he was doin tbh. there was a subaru parked behind their squad car and a guy across the road shoutin abuse at them. it was his subaru! he asked me to get out which i did. he went an turned the car around thinkin he was probably taking it off me as well.. then he drove off??? i said to his partner what is he doing? he replied hes testing it and if he finds anythin wrong itll be impounded and psv'd.. (think thats the test anyway?) an he came back talkin a load of bull s**t. (listed in my 1st post)
i managed to book an nct for this friday so hopefully itll pass. should do. just gotta put the cat back in.

so did it not have a valid NCT then?
no it does have one.. its up end of november. just booked nct as it will need one and im doin that instead of the pre nct thing.
no way would i let him drive the car. similar thing happened me when i had my s15. stopped me and picked up the hand controller for the power fc, started pressing buttons on it. i told him to put it down straight away, and if he caused any damage he'd be paying for it, and he put it down :haha:

some shades are fuckin pricks,just cause your young and drive a done up car,others are grand,i got stopped id say about 3 or 4 times in the last year in my gt,they once searched it head to toe for drugs,generally though if you leave them alone theyll leave you alone,thats what i think neway!!
update on this guys... car passed nct on friday no problems what so ever. rang up the cops sat morning asking for guard ____. woman on phone said there was 2 with the name in the station, i gave his describtion... she said she'd check computer and double check.
i told her what he had said about the car and told her that car passed nct and that he was talking crap. she said she'd get on to him an someone would ring me back later that day. didnt hear anything since???

no response back from the Gardai but I did dig this up in the road traffic act 1965
20.—(1) Where a member of the Garda Síochána observes a mechanically propelled vehicle or combination of vehicles in a public place and he suspects that there is a defect affecting the vehicle or combination which is such that it is, when in use, a danger to the public or, in the case of a public service vehicle, there is a defect affecting it which is such that either it is a danger to the public or it is rendered unfit for the carriage of passengers, he may inspect and examine the vehicle or combination and, for the purpose of carrying out the inspection and examination, may do all such things and make all such requirements in relation to it as are reasonably necessary.
(2) For the purposes of subsection (1) of this section and without prejudice to the generality of the powers conferred thereby, a member of the Garda Síochána may—
( a ) require the person in charge of a mechanically propelled vehicle or combination of vehicles to bring it to a convenient place indicated by the member suitable for the carrying out of an inspection and examination under this section and not more than five miles distant by the shortest available route from the place at which the requisition is made, and to carry the member in the vehicle or combination,
( b ) drive a mechanically propelled vehicle or combination of vehicles for a reasonable time and distance,
( c ) require the person in charge of a mechanically propelled vehicle or combination of vehicles to drive it or cause it to be driven for a reasonable time and distance in such direction and manner and at such speed as the member directs, and to carry the member in it while it is being so driven,
( d ) carry out or cause to be carried out such tests as the member considers reasonable.
(3) Where a member of the Garda Síochána has, consequent upon having inspected and examined under this section a mechanically propelled vehicle, reasonable grounds for believing that there is a defect affecting it which is such that it is, when in use, a danger to the public, he may—
( a ) instruct the person in charge that it is not to be driven in a public place until the defect has been remedied,
( b ) require the person in charge or the owner to submit it for a further examination and test at a specified time and place.

well regardless of the law I am going to push this along. It may be legal but I want the issue of harassment by Gardai of people who drive certain cars to be highlighted.
At the moment I am exchanging emails with a national radio station in Ireland regarding running a story on this. I will keep you posted on if/when it will run.

yeh guards in this country are a joke! i was driving through athlone recently in the civic, within the speed limit, and came accross a checkpoint near the college, they were checking tax etc, 5 cars in the row before me, all were waved on after there details were checked, came to my turn, i had tax test and insurance displayed, so the cunt decided to breathalise me, just because i had everything else, was zero as i don't drink! pricks
