lol i think this is geting misleadn to ppl .
ive seen so manny of these ecus that dont work well at all and some work ok its a lucky dip i dont believe any of the self learn stuff sorry

You dont have too. People who work on, and know how ECUs work do. I've had the pleasure of speaking with Dinan former Honda chip maker, the Australian guy who invented Autronic Systems, and more recently the gentlemen from MRT. I've also spoken to Hondata, Blitz, and many more tuners.

So you don't have to believe. The technical information is there. On top of that I have several magazine articles as well as personal experience where settings have been reverted with piggybacks. What has essentially happened there is the ECU has 'learned' that the current data is wrong and ignored such settings. This is very common in Toyotas which makes them difficult to tune at times.

Cars have predetermined maps stored and a long term data table. Upon start up the car will load the start up table, and then attempt to load the variables from one of its many maps into the volatile memory. It will over time make an assessment of the driving conditions and create a map based on the maximums and minimums as set within itself.

And again, maybe in your location pre-programmed ECU damage is the norm, but not here. I have seen ECUs cause problems, but its usually misuse or a lack of understanding on the owners part. And even then its so rare, it negligible.

well...i'm not the best when it comes to understanding the intricacies of ECUs, whether it be stock, piggyback, chipped or standalone.

however, i do have some real life experience with all the above, as i've had the opportunity to see a lot of different set ups

anyways, with specific regards to pre-programmed ECUs on EP91/82..here is what i've seen locally....our pump gas ia said to be 90 octane
1) my EP91 ran a JAM ecu for a long time ct9 set up on tmic, worked very well
2) EP82 running JAM ecu..again....for a long time now...ct9 hybrid set up ....works very well
3) EP82 ran Blitz ecu....again....for a long time...i beleive this person ran a number of set ups at varying levels of boost....but will have to confirm that...BUT, no problems that i know of:cool:

so,,,i personally cant fault the pre-programmed units

i however do feel that they are somewhat expensive,,,but no one forces anyone to buy one,,,,purchasers buy on their own free will...
