well...i'm not the best when it comes to understanding the intricacies of ECUs, whether it be stock, piggyback, chipped or standalone.
however, i do have some real life experience with all the above, as i've had the opportunity to see a lot of different set ups
anyways, with specific regards to pre-programmed ECUs on EP91/82..here is what i've seen locally....our pump gas ia said to be 90 octane
1) my EP91 ran a JAM ecu for a
long time ct9 set up on tmic, worked very well
2) EP82 running JAM ecu..again....for a long time now...ct9 hybrid set up ....works very well
3) EP82 ran Blitz ecu....again....for a long time...i beleive this person ran a number of set ups at varying levels of boost....but will have to confirm that...BUT, no problems that i know of
so,,,i personally cant fault the pre-programmed units
i however do feel that they are somewhat expensive,,,but no one forces anyone to buy one,,,,purchasers buy on their own free will...
