I had a problem with my zep kit not bleeding and it turned out i had the calipers on the wrong sides, ie LH caliper on the RH side of the car, so the bleed nipples were at the bottom of the caliper therefore not letting the caliper bleed air out. Could be that?

thing is mate, it has 4 bleed nipples on each side... 8 in total.... on one caliper there is 2 on top and 2 at the bottom so has to be the right way round.....

just took it out for another little run and they appear to be braking better... could be in my mind... i'll go for a drive tonight and wear em in more... possibly all they need..... if they dont get any better will bleed though system again... all 4 brakes like suggested....

thats a very good point dave.... not necessary doing the bottom as pressurized air will go up.....

what are the two bottom ones for exactly if they are not needed?

some nice facts there and very handy to know for learners!!

good luck 3sgte,

brakes sometimes take a while to bed in properly you dont wanna go mad with them at first itll fuck the pads

Hello everyone just a quick update.... i re bled the whole system again and the brakes still dont stop well....

Im using RED STUFF pads which ive been told are really shit for road use and are for track as they dont operate well until they get to the right temperature.....

Ive been advised to go for the GREEN STUFF pads...

could this very well be the problem why the brakes dont stop very well??

could be useless pads then with the huge calipers you wont get any better if the pads cant handle it.

try the ferodo pads that dave / toby sell they are ment to be the best i think expensive tho!

and remmeber take it easy on the pads for the first 50 miles ish no heavy braking or itll mash the pads to bits

well like a pleb when i fitted them i was doing some very heavy breaking as i was expecting/trying to figure out why they weren't coming to a sudden halt... im going to take the pads off today and sand the layer off the top as its gone black where ive been trying to brake so hard...... sand the layer off and wack em back on... then do some very steady breaking for a good 50-100miles to wear in.....

If problem persists then a possible change of pads....

does anyone know for sure what the red stuff are like for road use? if i slam the break on the car just gradually slows down.... i wana be flying through the windscreen for the amount these brakes cost me!!!

all cars brakes will be pretty shit when you 1st fit them. i drove an mx5 that had just had new discs and pads and the braking was scarily bad. drove another with well worn brakes and they worked very well!

red stuff are fine for road use used them for over a year on my 2ltr astra no problems mate so its not the pads but as said its very important to bed them they will feel spongy for a short while.

give them 150 miles then re-bleed should stop you good when working properly :D

shouldnt feel spongey. will just be carp until bedded in. any spongeyness will be due to them needing re-bleeding

right well thanks for clearing up the fact that i can still use these red stuff pads.......

Just re-bled them again and the brake pedal feels so spongy! Even worse then yesterday. I think im bleeding them wrong or something, its pissing me off.....

Ive also just sanded down my pad as they were very glazed and smooth..... now im going to take it easy..... might get my mechanic to bleed the car as i cant seem to do it......
