k24 turbo?

Who else is running one of these turbo's? Can anyone give a comparison between the k24 and td04 in terms of spool and top end power? Basically want to have a decent fast road setup and feel the k24 would be better suited for this.

Any info appreciated.

K24 is laggier and spools faster than a TD04, but maxes out at around 200 - 220bhp, and peak power is late (but gives you a 'Oh YESH' feeling). TD04 is more linear in its power delivery, and will make more power lower down, and will make much more top end power in the right application.

Both good for fast road, but I like the scary shove of the K24... ;)

I always thought it was literally the other way around Mark? Never experienced either I must say, other than a 5E with a TD04, but I always thought the TD04's as a bit of a laggy turbo and it would suddenly build boost, whereas a K24 would build boost linearly to the redline?

Well I thought it was the other way around aswell as rikko mentioned, in that case I will go td04 or maybe k26:drive:

Imrunning a k26 it's only at a bar until my next map but I'm getting full boost by 4.5k.I was expecting it to be worse than that but supose the reprofiled 5e cams are helping.can't wait for 1.8 bar:p

Don't get me wrong, the K24 will boost continually to the redline... I'm talking comparisons on a power graph. My K24 pulled a lot more power within a certain rev range (can't remember what) than a TD04, but then it tailed off. The TD04 starts lower, ends higher, and develops more power throughout the range, whereas mine was just in one big insane hit. Ahh, I love K24's... :D

Well the experiances of the sard k2460g we had on keiths car back in the day (stock internals) at 1 bar boost an uprated jdm ecu, and the usual supporting mods was as follows: feels like a higher flowing ct9.. we had 1 bar by 2800rpms, & used to have heaps of response, top end was a little well non existent say after 6500rpms.. but otherwise i think its the ideal turbo for a street setup :)

the td04 has much more grunt & top end, also a little more lag, but very mimimal..

TD04 for more mid-topend power

had a pull recently with a friend's DC5 Type R on topend and he couldn't pass me at just 0.8bar :drive:

I was running a Blitz K24 kit on mine when I was drag stripping it about 5 years ago there was not much lag at all and it was very smooth on the power non of the neck snapping boost!! boot I still was having traction problems in 4th gear even with the cusco 1.5 diff and toyos. and hitting the speed limiter in 4th too. have never been in anything TD04 so I can't compare it to one but I looved mine!! I never R/R mine as I broke it after the 3rd bottom end rebuild I was running 1.8 bar on a standard 4EFTE:rockon:

the k24 was the worst turbo i ever had,if you want my advice go for the td04 much cheaper to replace and seem to take a right beating my k24 gave good power but fuck me was it unreliable

If the output is anywhere close to the same, you are better off with the TD04. Much more common to find if you need parts or a replacement. That is one of the reasons I sold my Glanza (Difficulty finding replacement K24s).

K24 all the way! Such an awesome turbo especially if like you said you want a fast street set up. It just delivers so quick and powerful. I miss the blitz k24 turbo so bad i really dont think you would be disapointed with it.

td04's are like 2 doller ho's lol :p:p

being cheap is not everything

k24 has more class and designed to be used on the starlet anyway

The blitz K24 kit I had was an excellent kit but i bought the sard manifold so maybe thats why i found it so good. I had a K1 on the car before that and there was NO comparison. It had only a little more lag than the K1 but had much more power. Its the ultimate turbo kit for a street/track starlet
