Long motorway run

Well, covered 200 miles tonight- Darwen to Didcot, fully loaded, wife and two kids.
First long journey in the starlet but have done the same trip many times in several other cars.
Very impressed, sipped petrol cruising at 120-140kmh at 3000 to 3500 revs on low boost. (auto-box).
Felt solid, stable, safe with more than enough power for overtaking on hills. Bright- lights, good heating/ventilation. A true big little car!
Very Happy!

there great cars arent they, i often have to do a 100 miles motorway journey on the motorway and the car loves it. starlets are great cars for pretty much every driving situation

good to hear man =] such awsome cars.

out of interest, has anyone ever tested how many miles they get out of a full tank in low boost compared to high boost?

with the autos i'm sure yer better of having it in high boost...get more mile per tank...do a search on it bud this has been discussed before..

Thanks for all the replies, I can do the return trip- same route back- same speed but in HIGH. I`m working out the mpg for both journeys so will post these figures in a few days.

Right- trip down 30mpg on low boost.
Return trip 35mpg on high boost.

proof there that the low/high boost is not very good lol MPG will be more dependant on driving style, road/weather conditions and car load. if he was flooring it in low boost say, that will obviously use more fuel than driving casually in the high boost mode.

i remember when i had my white car i once got 360 miles from a tank that was running a td05 setup at 1 bar 330 injectors ect. it always got over 320 miles from a tank no problem. that wasnt taking it easy either.

That sounds similar to my autos best so far 38.9mpg at 100kph to 110kph and some slower bits. My usual city with hills gives 23mpg.

Congratulations on your run these cars love the open road.

What were you doing in Didcot dude?
Thats where i live lol dont see many starlets round here :(

I was visiting my sister for the weekend, who lives nr. lady grove school, thought we`d stay an extra day and left this morning at 8am. Loads of water- thought didcot had less rain than lancashire!

Man I did - I can promise you that high boost if not exceeding 3K RPM will give you more MPG than LOW boost! More fun as well!

I glad for you -) I would't consider 200 miles a long run though -) 2000 yes. How was the MPG??? And I would recommend to use the High boost all the time - Low boost for high altitudes in bad weather, bad traction and cooling down the turbo after a heavy run!

do the autos use more juice than the manuals then.

Depends how you drive! I get 30 mpg on my auto - driving not exceeding 3K RPM. Get around 20-25mpg pushing the car to the limits! You will get around the same figures on the Manual gearbox.... Also one thing I've noticed for sure - you don't have to change tyres as often as you do on the Manual!
