Hey guys and girls.... just a quick question my car failed of emissions yesterday and ive been told its the cat but i dno if my car needs a full emissions test or just a basic one??
can any1 help me??
The date of first registration was '01 10 1994'
so will i need a new cat or no??

Your car is only subject to a standard CAT test if it's declared date of first registration is after the 31st July 1995, any EP82 registered in Japan before that date is only required to pass a standard non-CAT idle emissions test for the UK MOT.

thanks guys, the co was 0.43% i dno what it could be :/ if any1 got any ideas would be really helpfully cheers

I would say they've done a basic cat test, when they should've done a non-cat test. Take it back and get them to do it properly.

they said they done a full emissions test, its doin my head in now cause they made me buy a new cat and they spose to be a jap specialist :/

Emissions can be heavily affected by fuelling so it may not be a faulty part as such. Do you have any modifications?

Tell them to RTFM!

I'd take the car somewhere else mate, there's plenty of other places that actually know what they're supposed to be doing.
