just a quick fuel mapping question.

how do people on here map the fuelling? i have read it doesnt really matter whether you use the base map or the inj map. but why 2 maps?

from what i have read the inj map is what the o2 control selection uses when turned on to try and keep the fuelling at that point? with that in mind surely it is best to make the changes on the base map?

the way i see it is that you pretty much set the inj map to read the target afr across the whole range that you want and then make tweaks to the base map to make it all read correct?

some use 1 map and others use a combination of the 2???? is there a correct way or does it really not matter?

my tuner used the recalc feature on fc-edit, switched the o2 feedback off and made all the nessaccery adjusments on the base map, he even mapped the cruise site so id still have decent fuel economy.

Use the injector map, then if you want to make a change to the whole map do it on the base map. Its not 2 maps its all 1.

it is 2 maps, as there are 2 different maps with different figures in. but i realise it is a combination of the 2 which determines the actual fuelling of the car.

it seems like everyone seems to use it differently, just getting some opinions on how others do it on here.

i have written a rough target afr map in the inj tab. going to adjust everything on the base map and see how it goes ;)

had a couple of hours mapping then managed to fuck everything up and wiped it all so had to start again :(

had it pretty damn close on the fuelling as well. got it almost there again but took me a little longer. takes ages to map on the road your own!

Are yopu logging and then changing values or just watching and changing?

logging then changing mate. i cant map and drive at the same time ;)

I would take it to someone who knows what their doing.

tried that mate and got raped over £400 for a crap map

thats what i was doing. but had to restart fc edit and as it loaded the default map i forgot, made a small change and uploaded the info and saved it. then realised i fucked it up :(

now the default map is gone i have to load up something so i cant get them confused!!!!!

argee with dac69er, hard to find a good reasonably priced tuner! The cheapest i heard of was £300...

its not about cost of mapping, i would happily pay £600 for a map, but after being burned a number of times it's having the faith in the mappers to do a good job,

i even went to abbey motorsport for a map and they done the shittest map of them all, took all the ignition timing out, run it mega rich at the top end and didnt give 2 hoots about the driveability,

i had a little play and got it a bit better but its difficult doing it on the road with limited equipment at my disposal

exactly. i wouldnt mind paying £400, or even £600 if the map was good. but when its just not very good and all they worry about is that its safe on boost then its not good. as you say, drivability is the part alot of mappers tend to forget about.
