If it's been in the UK since 1998 it should have atleast 12 years of sh in the uk ? It depends how mint it actually is though I guess, when I got my green uk spec that was mint and I got it for 1750 full years tax and mot some service histroy hpi clear, so it all depends on what you think when you view it. Go round it and check properly :) sills/arches and the inside the boot - Some have rot in there too.

cheers lingl9z!

as mine is a toy and only comes out to play for meets and shows, I had considered selling up, selling the yaris and buying something sensible like a mazda 3, as it grates me sailing about in a runaround 99% of the year with a toy tucked away, but then I drive it that 1% and well, its awesome!

theres the whole paying for insurance and tax, and super, and oilchanges after being stowed away, I dont mean to sound old before my time, but it takes it out of you financially when you could be away on hols half the summer, hard to know what to be at lol

no worries, I'd rather have your ride than a holiday to be fair! but i know what you mean about it taking it out of the financialy ! =]

Yeah you get crap loads of time wasters when looking for cars, thats why I'm usually skeptical about travelling long distances for cars only to find there sheds!

its an unfortunate situation today, and one all too familiar on local car sites, where EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING is 'mint mate'...

When Trev sold the RS Aisawa throttle body car, which was restored 8k km previously, it was met with so much scepticism it was unreal! literally no one can believe a clean one when they see it, as there is just so much scrap about being mascaraded as 'mint'.

I can truthfully say I have never owned a mint car. Even the brand new astra I bought wasnt mint as I found defects in the lacquer, and there was dirt on the underside from being tested by the technicians during PDI.
im a big believer in mint being the reserve of concours cars

my suggestion....

any info on these as am thinking about buying one as a daily run about what are they like i need somthing reliable? whats the best engine size i was thinking about the 1.6? i want to get the import as they got a better stance? what you think guys?

I have a 1994 mk1 1.8 v-spec in British Racing Green with Tan Hood and only bought it 7 weeks ago, havn`t stopped grinning yet!!
An import Eunos is definately the model to go for (uk cars have crap spec) you get power steering, air-con, LSD (viscous on 1992-96, Haldex type later, plate type earlier) elec mirrors and windows.
Reliability is astounding (mine has done 200,000km+ and everything works and sounds great) and fun guaranteed.
The 1.8 has more power but more importantly a lot more torque than the 1.6 when you have the roof down you tend not to want to rev the nuts of it and I think the extra torque lets you short shift and even pootle around in 5th at 30 mph. 6 speed gearboxes are available from later units but you need to change the diff ratio too otherwise 1st gear is a true stump-puller!
Great parts availability, enjoy.....
