keep it as it is, it is low enough for mauritian road ;)
I'm higher than that, while I have way stiffer shocks than you do.
I feel two fingers between wheel and wheel arche give best results. I wouldn't go lower than one finger

Well said Lionel ;)

But if you set it before they are on the car then you could easily have a lopsided car, you can't account for the different weight on each corner, or the weight of the driver.

You are best off roughly setting them up, fitting them and sitting in the drivers seat getting somone to measure from wheel to arch and fine tuning them

correct me if am wrong.the way u explained seems to be good but there is one thing,u wont have the same number of splines on each side...

This shouldnt be a problem.

With some coilovers it may change the preload on the springs so it could cause issues (i dont know what coilovers have this problem, pretty sure some teins do)

At the end of the day it shouldnt really matter if you set them up by having equal splines or if you do it the way i suggested and just measure the height from the top of the arch or rim of wheel. The way i suggested should give a more accurate ride height all round the car (you may want the back higher than the front for 1/4 mile sprints)
