also remember the m3 is 3.2 straight 6, so its not gonna be cheap to run everyday (neither is the 350z i mentioined)

Mate you're in the same boat as me, the Mrs expecting a ring and me saying "Just let me get a nice commuting car and I promise my next pennies will be on the wedding darling..."

But she also wants a house rather than her flat, so I'm reqesting a garage!

I've got my heart set on a 01-03 Focus RS I think.

Akeel has just bought an M3 in red with leathers etc, the lad with the B18 CRX. I'll ask him running costs for you mate.

Ive been driving the E36 M3 Evo for almost 3 weeks now, and believe me, you can practically watch the fuel gauge go down. I hammered it the other day and the trip computer said it was doing 7.3mpg. It says on the dash that you have to use 98ron aswell. Ive been using it but I dont think my mum ever did.

what about a "prestige" jap car :) Something like an aristo or similar?

Would the aristo's not be as or more expensive to run as an m3? Its a twin turbo supra engine in them, I would imagine they drink petrol aswell.

They are nice cars though, big comfy cruisers, although auto gearboxes are the most common:shoot:

I bought my glanza back when I was 37, you still have plenty of time :p

I never understood the general idea "you get older so you need a car that fits your age". you need a car that fits your needs and tastes !
I don't like M3 (expept the original one e30). I would go for audi if I would have to go in that category

to a degree but the tune on them is not as aggressive so I would think they would be a bit easier on juice than a supra.

The chap from envyperformance had an aristo with a supra engine and tune ... it looked immense.

I had an E36 325 for a couple of years, (2.5l M50 engine with no variable valve timing) which is fairly tame compared to an M3 variant of any sort, would see 26-27mpg steady driving and around 13-14mpg when giving it some.

Lovely car to drive, surprisingly easy to throw around without breaking into a sweat and would bounce off the rev limiter in 5th gear. ;)

I would still have it now if it wasn't for the £400 a month fuel bill!

Dam, running costs sound like a bitch.

Either going to have something as a weekend car or a daily like this:

hmm u can allways get an EVO or something...average running costs (compared to the M3)
spacious, fast, JDM, and u can allways tinker it to get some bhp more outa there!
