i will add a little photography tip which i find works really well. firstly turn the iso to the lowest setting and never use the flash. if the iso is high there will be noise in the shot and it wont be as clear. doing this however means that a long shutter speed needs to be used so a tripod is a must.

the key is to keep as little movement from the camera as possible, so try this........

1) set up your shot with tripod in position and iso on lowest setting.
2) set the self timer to say two seconds
3) press the button and walk away safe in the knowledge that the camera will stay perfectly still.
4) get home and admire the clarity of your night shot.

settings for the above shot was

ISO 100
shutter 1.7 sec
ap: F5.6
