porting ct9 wastegate

Going to attempt to port wastgate on my turbo this week as my boost creep is really annoying me. How much roughly do i need to grind off. What should the overall diameter of the wastegate hole be?

mine was took out to 24mm if i remember right, but as said, leave the hole a few mm smaller than the flap so it'll seal correctly

Really need to do this, but might aswell build a collection of better bits to bolt back onto the turbo after...

A method I used to make sure you take off the right amount was to close the wastegate flap and spray a little spray paint so it makes an outline of where the wastegate flap meets the wastegate. Worked like a charm. Better safe than sorry.

A perfect time to port your wastegate would be when installing an aftermarket manifold.

good idea that use carbide burrs aswell will take no time to get it how you want it than clean up with a suitable polishing stone

Im about to port my wastegate ive sprayed some paint on so i no where to grind but were the flap meets the waste gate it isnt in the same all the way round (off centre) if you get me! Does the hole have to be a perfect circle??

i took apart the ct9, removed the wastegate flap/penny and drilled it out at work to 26mm. i tig welded the penny using low amps to build up the outside diameter of the penny, and then using sandpaper on top of a flat surface to flatten the weld on the penny and polish out any imperfections left on the penny this gives a flat surface and a nice sealing face. i will make a how to guide very soon.
