Yeah I think a lot of it comes down to the corner weights of the car, the Starlet is very light compared to something like a Civic and we found it just doesn't seem to spread the weight over the 195's just couldn't get on with them, tried lots of variations with temp and pressure.

Don't forget the 165 stretches out to near on a 185 except you reduce the sidewall at the same time down to maybe a 40, so a 165/50 ends up like a 185/40 if that makes sense. The 195/50's just seem to bounce around and really lack confidence, well this was our findings :)

yeah I did read your post about 165/50/15
it is still hard to think 195/50/15 woud have less grip especialy when TOYO recomend to use them on 6inch rims. but if you have tested both and had better results with 165. it must have a reason.

That's very strange Jonny had better result with parrada. as Toby said, paradas are in T1R category. I had Neovo AD07, wich are supposed to be even better than parradas. they were best street tyres I have used on dry, but didn't last long. I expect 888 to be much better than AD07

It is strange i would have thought the toyos would have been better buy maybe the paradas just suit the car or me better, who nos. lol I definatly like the paradas a lot better.

Usually use them for qtr mile in street class where you are not allowed full slicks. You can get away with a 195/50 on a 7.5inch rim as the side walls are much stiffer than 888 so they don't go off and flex/bounce. They, imo, are far better than 888 in the dry as they physically have less tread pattern so more contact. In the wet I find them hopeless, this goes without saying as they have less tread pattern so they can't disperse the water as well which is why 888 are a good all rounder, not as good in the dry but you don't die in the wet.

We were spinning up in 5th with a058r in "damp" conditions.

fantastic, even in the very greasy roads from the salt these tyres work brilliant.

ive never tried a semi slick mainly because my poor car does alot of motorway miles and itd be a bit of a waste of money, but i did try the paradas and eagle f1s on a fiesta zetec-s i had last year, paradas were good, alot better than t1r's i thought, but imo the eagle f1's were brilliant, ive yet to try either on my glanza, but the f1's loved it on my zetec-s, it was lowered 60mm and it didnt have enough power to understeer on a typical sized roundabout lol the glanza is a fair bit lighter so i dno how theyd go on one

paradas arent a semi slick tyre, there just a normal road legal compound tyre.

i really do think your chatting out of your ass a little bit mate, maybe you didnt get the semi slicks up to temperature before ragging it because they are 10% BETTER than normal road legal tyres, why would they bother using them if they werent in motorsport

Yeah i got my R888 for 105 euro each but they are wicked in the dry (but to be fair need a bit of heat in them to get working)! at the 1/4 mile you cant get anything better than them (only slicks would be better) but then my friend on an integra said they are crap! on the Aygo i have the 195 / 50 / 15 and I can almost keep up with evo's when launching and can easily beat glanzas by a very fair lenght buut then my car is different than yours but dont think its because of the lightness of the car that they dont work its probably more because of the setup.
