reconditioned or new rear shocks?

in the process of changing my springs, i found out that both rear shocks (KYB Excel g) are knackered. Would it be worth getting these reconditioned, or buying new ones? its for an ep82 mk1

How did you find out they were knackered? I've just noticed my car sags at the rear drivers side and i'm thinking maybe one of mine have gone.......

i fully removed the springs n shocks from the rear. When you compress the shocks by hand and then let go their supposed to slowly come back up, but mine only come up by about 4 cm and just stay there, so i think there dead. Also, they dont feel as smooth as my front shocks when i compress them.

yeh, i was thinking that too, less hassle. You know roughly how much it costs to get it refurbished?

there is a set of rear d2 coilovers for a good price in the for sale section... it may thro the balance of the car off tho...
