Rolling the arches

Yeah exactly that Luke otherwise you end up painting the rear quater panel! The rear has a metal lip which can be a pain when fitting bigger rims with chunky semi slicks for example although ideally it's better to strecth the tires to reduce the side wall, like our example with the 888's.

In saying that R888's will have alot tougher side walls than normal road tyres, and hence far less buldge. So if a road tyre rubs around corners, a race tyre most probably won't.

Then again different tyres are various shapes so you never know. I had my arches rolled when the bodywork was done, the lips do add considerable strength to the arch themselves which is why they shouldn't be cut off.

Like the rim of a plastic cup.

With a full race tire like a slick yeah but with a road legal semi it would be the other way around. If you bought a 195/50 proxey and compare it with a 888 195/50 you will see the 888 towers over the proxey so the 888 would have more chance of rubbing than the road tire but know what you mean.

Yeah I wouldn't advice cutting lips either just bend em, or get the arches extended wide arch style!

I know looks mad eh! And yeah semi's will always have a lot more compound and sidewall even if you match the tires identically tire size wise just the way they are built :)

I can ask Dave to do a few but it will only be in afew weeks time maybe a month even as he is mega busy at the moment. My car is going in for more than the arches tho, wanna get the rust on the back treated but means he has get back window out too.

Toby i will PM you in a few weeks time when i am ready to use the roller. Like i said the bodyshop cant do it until a few weeks time so no point in hogging it until then :) has anyone ever used it and had trouble with paint cracking?
