Should I be worried?! Too late, I've laid an egg!

yessir - and BAH! Don't have petrol...or money for petrol...:( Why you need to go to Scotland anyway?

Oh, and on the diff front - surely if it were on it's way out it'd start working as an Open diff? There is some slack before the wheel rotates, but it still does...the slack is expected of the Optional Viscous LSD's. I shall probably take out my intercooler piping today (kill 2 birds with one grenade...stones aren't fun) to heatwrap/heat reflective tape wrap it, and then put it back on to see if the noise disappears...I can but hope.

Scoucerland is not Scotland you ninny!

Maybe you've got something rubbing in your engine bay?

Bah! Sorry, I haven't a clue of British geography...I relate to places in England with regards to which bulge or pointy bit of England it's at :p

For the rubbing - well, I definitely rub on the arches or coilover on full lock, but it grumbles too, it feels as if the tyre sidewall is folding over itself and deflecting, but to be honest, at what, 2mph? That's not going to be an issue at that speed...And nah Dan, have been meaning to change it for a while, but never got to it...I really should do it soon.

LoL, deffo not your ecu but, could it be the heater matrix if the noise is comin' from near the ecu? As you accelerate, you can hear the pressure of the cooling system maybe :homer:

Ecu

Well Buy sounds like it could the ECU .....Well with the Very little Electronic knowledge that i have it could be a comonent witch is called a SCR or a FETT
When they are under a lot of load they tend to make a screeching sound... the SCR or FETT are the components that make the injectors open " The more load the engin has on accelleration the harder the injectors work and load the SCR or FETT more making it a screeching sound " Now comes the the question is it normal to make that noise so loud that you should hear it , now that i could not tell you . By running higher boot also needs more fuel and loads the SCRs or FETTs more .... 2nd and 3rd Gear load the engin the more on accelleration than 1st gear, To my understanding ....But thats just a theory ...

I had a similar high pitch squeal on my Charade on boost. It was the gasket between the turbo and downpipe - basically it was sucking in air via the gap at higher revs / gas velocity.

bah, so many different suggestions :(

Well I wouldn't think the heater matrix would make sounds when the heater isn't being used right? As I tried hearing out for the sound with the heating off. Turbo - downpipe, could be, I suppose my Catalytic Converter must've been removed for the Exhaust System to made up...shall just have to check all variables now

both my mondeo and starlet drag on full lock, especially when going slow (3 point turn etc) on the mondeo i think it's down to worn out bottom arms, not sure on the starlet....

Maybe the heater had become self-aware, and has turned itself on?!!?

Wow, I'm giving the best advice ever aren't I? Teehee
