speed probably isnt restricted. should still pull ok in 5th. why you going that fast anyway?

is the car still fairly standard?

there is a restriction on top speed, in every day driving you don't need to go any faster then 90mph, but if you track the car you Can get Speed Limit defencer that will eliminate the top speed restriction

thought the top speed limiter was a bit more abrupt than it just stopping and not going any harder?

ah right. never hit it in mine so didnt know what it was like. was under the impression it was like a mild fuel cut

^ Ditto (i've a toms ecu though), but my old one, with stock ecu was the same, and ditto for my mates ep82 aswell,

i doubt you could float all the way up to 120mph though, surely?

isn't it meant to be at 112mph?

Speedo needles are inaccurate. Expect anything up to a 10% error rate.

The speed limiter is set at 113mph. It is the same for all japanese imports. Depending on how hard you hit it it can be a brickwall or a gentle cushion.

HKS sell a Speed Limit Defencer (SLD for short) or you can fit a Pivot speedmeter to eliminate the limiter. Aftermarket ECU's have this side effect of removing the limiter too. Or you can mess about with the inards of the speedo cluster but info on this technique is hard to find.

I remember hitting mine, on closed airfield... it was pretty much bang on 112-113 and it was almost like hitting fuel cut, quite a strong judder which i thought was almost abit dangerous considering the speed

i thought some KPH/MPH converters also remove the top speed restriction? so is that a possibility for the people that didnt have it but no SLD?

Lol.... why is he going that speed? maybe because he felt like it?

yeah sounds like the fuel cut..... clocks are always out.... at 180KPH im doing 98mph.... supposed to be 112mph.... either way i go by my road angel as it goes off the clock.....

now before everyone starts flaming and saying its illegal and starlets are limited already....

but I noticed twice now, I have gone past the 113mph mark, it was on Silverstone when Trax was on...Just speaking to jimmer on MSN now and he too has gone through the speed limiter of 113, as the needle was very close back to zero.

Just wondering has anyone else had any of the same kinda 'problems' so to speak with the limit? ie. going past it.

I'm not looking for 'oh I've done this speed' etc, I just would like to know if anyone else has experienced this?

i got a few runs on a qtr with 114mph like. I know the limiters can be a few miles per hour either side of 113 but other times i have been goin a lot faster without it slowin me down.

Cheers Jay - Shoulda used that bloody search button beforehand :p

No worries mate, it makes more sense to merge new threads like this as everything will stay in one spot without anyone yelling 'use the search button' plus we get all the previous info up above the new question. Easier to cross reference and correct earlier findings!

I'm going to use this approach where possible in future.
