As above guys can standard headbolts be used with Athena 1.2mm headgasket??

Or will i have to buy ARP's ?

Cheers!

I believe the stock gasket is 1.2mm, but goes to 1mm when crushed. A MLS gasket will not crush therefore stays the same thickness.

As Rory said, you can use standard headbolts. But looking into the future it may be worth while uprating to some ARP's.

Ah confused now so wait if i use standard headbolts on my athena gasket it will be fine??

Has this been tried & tested from any other members if anyone could confirm???

Also i may be gettin a 1.4mm gasket to lower compression even more again back to my 1st question ???

Stock bolts will be fine with both gaskets. .2/.4mm will make absolutly no difference whatsover.
People upgrade to ARPs for added strength, when running serious boost/power etc.

As Murray said the standard headbolts will be sufficient.

Use the thinnest headgasket you can get away with, unless your going for a record attempt on stock internals.

No you can't reuse the stock headbolts. For the sake of £30 you may as well replace them anyway as good practice.

cheers guys think i'll go for the standard oem headbolts then..

The Athena will take 1 bar when fitted correctly no problem. Stock bolts will work ok, but if you are going to buy new ones from Toyota they are about £80, ARP are about £30 more and can be reused at least once.
