put a cable from the negative to the car chassis making a extra earth then try! or try jump leads to another car..... what your saying happens when you have a dead battery or shit connections or earthing points just try jump leads to rule it out you could even fasten the negertive straight from the other car to your chassis/engine any good earth point.....

I have an earthing kit on my car so there plenty of earthing points, and i hadnt disturbed any when it stopped working!

when it was trying to turn over it was doing everything apart from sparking, but now i have nothing

Does this mean that the starting motor is turning the engine over but you are getting no spark from the distributor?

You may have fried the starter trying or its gotten stuck to crank the car.

Try smaking the gearbox around where the starter is to try and unstick it with a rubber mallet or something.

If not I would take the starter off and see if it will spin with diretc power and get the car cranking again.

unfortunatley i cant bump it due to where my garage is, whih is why im desperate to get it started!

Ill give the starter a whack tomorrow afternoon i suppose!

Just seems odd how it just suddenly stopped!

put the car in first, rock the car back and forth then try.

if not, check your rotor arm, then take a plug out, with the lead connected to it, and turn the ignition and see if theres a spark coming out.
