Super Car Day - Which should I drive?

Which place are you going to Gee?

Some of the Evo guys have done experience days with them and they have all raved about them. Some of these experience days companies hire the cars in and you end up with the owner of the car sat at the side of you making you change up at 4k revs. What is the point in driving a supercar if you have to change up at 4k?

Anyway I'm considering doing the GTR/Gallardo day with these guys. Also you can pay extra on the day and drive anything you like.

Thats who I did the day with Rick. They had me slinging the cars around and were telling me to give it more beans. The instructors they had in the cars with you were all trained racing drivers. One was an ex-formula 1 test driver.

There did seem to be a few cars there that everyman did not own though so maybe its like that if you are not in one of their cars.

I would go for the ferrari to be totally honest, assuming its manual. It may not be the quickest out of the lot but you will enjoy the experience much more if the car is manual.

I drove the Lamborghini Lp560, Lp640, Audi R8 and Ferrari F430. The F430 was the best for three reasons. 1. It was beautifully balanced and so easy to drive fast 2. It was manual. and 3. The instructor whose name was Toby was a legend and let me push it harder than the others by far!

If you go there, ask for Toby (if he's there) to take you out in the 360, I think you'll be very happy with it. My mates were impressed with the GTR but thats sequential as the Gallardo will most likely be. I didn't enjoy the 560 nearly as much as the fezza. The Lp640 was a different matter as it sounded like the devil screaming on downshifts and the instructor had me redline 4th gear before the end of the straight which was insane fun!

Avoid the old 94 F1 driver (Ian Ashley iirc), he took me (and my mate earlier) out in the R8 and had clearly lost his marbles! I think he only does the Audis though.

I'm booking an single seater session at Silverstone soon. You seem to get a reasonable amount for your cash.

Was looking at those today, think I will do one at some point! Few laps behind a pace car before they let you round by yourself.

360... Personally, if I win the lottery tomorrow night, the 1st thing I'd do is NOT buy a Ferrari. To obvious, too pretentuos... Awesome cars though, set-up to perfection, spine-tingling engine note, and RWD for some scary action. Don't go 4WD, yes they're grippy, but you're going for fun, not speed (which is a given with any of those cars).

I wouldnt bother with the GTR since its just a fat pig with tonnes of computers to control how you go around the corner.

The Lambo might be more controllable but i have no doubt a Ferrari would be shitloads more fun than the computerized sausage called GTR.

Hey, it's 20 minutes behind the pace car and then 20 minutes on your own.

Some other briefs etc in between, seems to offer the best value for £ in my opinion. 0-60 in 5 seconds but will feel a hell of alot faster with the wind and your ass on the floor ;)

Oh yeah definately.

This one was a gift from the Mrs, so I am looking at purchasing a single seater day some time in the near future :)

How are the single seaters setup? Old F1 style with a manual shifter? Paddle shift? Auto?

I'll let you know, I'm booking one in a couple of weeks. They look good though, if you have Motors TV they were in that GT series of Aston Martin recruiting random people to drive their Le Man cars.

thats where I did my track day Gee... its a good laugh... nice long straight for giving it some!

Dont mind about the car being RWD or 4WD its not like they will let you drift a supercar around the track. The ferrari will be a beast wait till you get to plant the foot on that straight and hear it scream :)
