It depends on what car it comes, from but mine has a larger throat and a different flange to the more commonly used TD04L turbos.

The HL vairent of the tdo4 family is from a mitsi RVR. they are harder to some by than the subaru and other mitsi versions.
i havnt physicly sat one side by side against another td04 but by all accounts they are a bit larger than the others. be sure to use an oil restriction in the feed line as they dont like to much and will blow the seals fairly easily.

cheers

Mines not from a Mitsi, its from a Volvo.

It has no restriction in the oil feed as has kept boosting 1.4 bar for 3 years now.

Mines a TD04HL from a Subaru.
I'm using a restrictor on mine.

my little contribution

TD04: It is the type of turbine, to which usually one adds letters L, H, or HL, this difference of minor to major the diameters of the vanes. Thus we have the TD04, TD04L, TD0H, and TD04HL. 13T: This is the compressor, the numbers talk about the size of the compressor, and the letter that follows the form and type of the vanes. As far as the size of the compressing one because there is from the 9, until the 19; evidently the larger ones will be the 19, (9B, 11B, 11G, 12T, 13C, 13G, 13T, 15G, 15T, 16T, 17G, 18T and 19T). And as far as the forms of the vanes, they aparacen differentiated with the following letters C, G, T., the order is of minor to greater air flow (CFM)

What he said ^
And I can't see why the turbo wont fit, you make it fit!
It is from another car anyway, so you are modifying in the first place.
The HL turbine wheel will give you more power up top compared to the L.
Turbine exducer size: L=41.1mm HL=45.7mm

And remember TD04 turbos also came from a lot of diesel engines also.
So you could have a TD04 with the big exhaust side and a small compressor side.
The HL could also be there to say what compressor housing it has. HL compressor housings are bigger and is for the "T" TD04 turbos.
You could have a 13T 15T 16T 18T 19T etc
