So long as the 4EFTE in question is healthy, free of vacuum leaks and doesn't have excessively increased fuel pressure then the emissions at idle/low RPM test is actually quite low. For example, 3.50% vol is the limit at idle and I've scored around the .25% area on most occasions. The HC readings are usually 200/250ppm compared to the allowed 1200ppm.

The only hassle I've ever had turned out to be a random vacuum leak. Even the turbo conversions I've done have been fine (Joz's TD04 and Phil's K1 powered UK cars have aced their MOTs)

Bear in mind we get the government run Nazi test over here in Northern Ireland, none of your private sector cowboy malarkey so there could be a difference there.

Glanza V can pass emissions with no cat??? Only with special tester may be, in my experience it fails.

My 1996 Detonator V had a Toyosports decat on it. Emissions were well below limit and the tester didn't even mention it after the visual inspection. I have a MOT certificate to prove it.

The tester may have been special - 'riding on the yellow bus to school' special by the looks of him!

I believe you Jay, well I had a hole in my cat and failed the emissions in one garage and passed in another garage. But I still had a cat on the car. Probably depend on the garage.

Its all about the 2012 visual cat check regardless of emission pass or fail I believe.

Thing is the emissions is the very first test they do at my mot place and they don't look under the car.

The last thing they do is raise the car up on a ramp to test the steering etc and a full inspection underneath.

Have passed with decat countless times but my number could be up this year lol.

Only option is to send my front section to racetech to have a bolt in sports cat added like below.

I'm running this 2.5" monster at the moment.

Of course I'm going to take my chances but a sports car may quieten things down and give better off boost torque.

That's exactly it!

As long as your car can pass the emissions test without a cat installed, then you only need to make it look as though it has a cat in the exhaust system. Personally I would cut up an old cat and weld the carcass over a section of the exhaust pipe. On visual inspection it would appear that a cat was present.

If it were me I'd just throw the car at MOT and see if the tester spots it.

Half the MOT inspectors will be so bedazzled by the engine bay they'll not even notice if a cat is missing.
