lots of cheaper things to try before changing calipers. unless you have money to burn then you could go for it and change the calipers and discs

when you will have cracked 4 pairs of discs including 3gs you might change your mind

Levin or celica gt4 st185 calipers if you want good cheap upgrade.
otherwize any after market big kit

I use D2 286*26mm, 6pot calippers with braided lines

thanks Jay, was thinking more along the lines of forcing the air onto the brake disc. Basically the way you have opened yours up certainly would improve things, but air is also lost and doesnt all go to the brakes.

My plan is to get a hose installed right behind the usual location for spot lamps (with them removed) and duct it to the cooling plate.

Yes, I follow your thinking.

I had looked at fitting some sort of deflector plate in there to direct the air more directly but ran out of time. The improvement was so great that I never bothered looking further into it but please let us know how you get on.

i use brembo 4 pot brakes with ferodo ds2500 pads, levin 275 x 25mm discs, braided lines, motul rbf600 fluid, and on the back oem discs and pads. in the future i will replace the levin discs with something with 28mm width.
