He died of a heart attack and the investigation is to see whether or not the shove by the copper lead to this. So, the heart attack killed him, not the police officer but it may be a direct result of the police officers actions.
Whether this fella was moving slowly or not, that does not give ANYBODY the right to clip on the back of the legs with a baton and then fire him onto the ground.
Fair enough, we do see stories like this quite often and most of the time, there is plenty more to the story that completely changes your perspective on the matter but, to be honest, stories that lead to 'bandwagon jumpers' are generally found in tabloid papers or reported on tabloid news stations, like Sky News. No offence if you read those papers or watch Sky News but that's the reality.
The police should have the respect of the citizens and, as I stated in my original post, I do not agree at all with the trouble caused by the protesters but, whether this man died or not, there's no excuse for this behaviour.
We have this all the time in Ireland. Big 'hard men' (and women) coppers who complain about not being given the respect that they think they deserve.. but incidents like this don't do any police force any favours.
Plus, anybody will tell you.. don't ever push someone, in the back, who has their hands in their pockets.. unless you want to inflict harm upon them.
Just for the record, I’m not some sort of tree hugging, protesting do-gooder.. I just think this was out of order.
