Does anybody know the weight of the oem bonnet and the rear door, along with glass? i'm thinking of making a carbon rear door, and stuffing one of the plastic rear screens for some weight loss. side windows too, but those things are damn expensive. so, anybody?

The original glass in the Starlet's tailgates is a thin unit!

Have a look.. it's 2mm instead of 3.5mm

:D

hmm! i have the original glass on from the NA, cause i havent changed the rear door, since i don't like the frame with the reverse lights. Is the glass different on NA and turbo models?

The rear door will weigh nothing without the glass, you're best off replacing with perspex.

I sent my windows off @ 30KG in weight, the package back was less than 10KG :)

i havent forgotten, but the local guys have me making stuff all the time, and I HAVENT EVEN MADE STUFF FOR ME!

so far i've got the molds , and producing:

jam style eyelids
glanza S bonnets
96 front spoilers
98 front spoilers
rear spoilers
right headlight drag type headlight with hole
side skirts
carbing style ep91 cooling plates
ep82 gauge pods , small and big, for left hand drive of course

so far i've only managed to make for my car a fiberglass bonnet, the carbon cooling plate and carbon jam eyelids...everything else has been sold! :(:)

gtti i know glass has a lot of weight but for proper scratch resistant perspex, its a shitload of cash! not to mention you don't have heated glass in the winter eh?

use saftey glass/plastic (like lexan) instead of perspex...Perspex will break into very sharp edges in case of getting in an accident.

Not sure of the weight but i know when i replaced mine with lexan i had to take off the shocks because when the boot was opened it literally flies up too fast since the heavy glass was out..if it were to hit someone when flying up they would be knocked out

isnt lexan too thin and prone to scratching? and also not so see-through and yellows in the sun after some time? i want something that looks like the original glass.
