Wheeler Dealers - Who watches it?

watched it a few times, its a bit stupid imo.

They buy a car, find out what needs to be done with it, buy the parts and then at the end they sell it and say "well the car cost X and the parts cost X and we sold it for X and so we made a profit of X"

They totally overlook the fact that they had to give it to a mechanic and have him find the faults, find the parts to fix it, fix it, clean it up/spray parts of it, place ads to sell it, get people to view it and eventually sell it. They never factor in how much all that costs in lost time and labour costs.

I do like watching what they do to the cars but I think its misleading the way they make out they are wheeling/dealing and making a profit from it. In the real world they would probably clear more money every week if they got a paper round.

I think you missed the point a little they always say on the show its more about putting a classic car back on the road then making a profit, i think its the love for the cars. I personally love that show.

well they call it wheeler dealers which implies they are wheeling and dealing, there is a big emphasis on how to haggle to get the car cheap and then how to talk up the good points to sell it for as much as possible, I dont think I missed those points as they do it on every episode. I like the actual cars and repairs but the way they go on about the money side of it is totally unrealistic. If the average person spent a few hours working on a car their time wouldnt be covered by the tiny profits they make on the cars.

Also... classic cars? are we talking about the same show? some of the heaps of shite they have had on that programme are hardly what you would call classic cars and the repairs are often botched jobs like a quick sand and a shot of a spray can, not really how you would restore a classic.

there is a list of the cars here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheeler_Dealers

Again, I like the cars and I like the way they show the work they do etc but the wheeling and dealing aspect is what I dont like, it is misleading in my opinion.

I Just checked that list there is some big profits? I know there is alot of work that gos into some of the cars, but they do try to do cars abit out of the ordinary so obviously there is going to be limited number of cars to chose from. Also i wouldnt agree with botched jobs, they do what they can with the size of the budget they have got usually. A difference of opinions again i guess lol. Obviously they wouldn't make a full time living out of it, but then again mike brewer doesn't really do alot, edd could probly do it all on his own.

i like watching it, but i do feel that they dont make as much as the ammount of work that gets put into them suggests.

and it all looks a bit to staged sometimes.

Edd China is cool
Met him in person at the Autosport show

They make a quick profit, but if you had to pay for Edds time, then the profit would be no more...
