Hey i got the 4efte in my yaris and ive got 205/40/17s on my car their just budget tyres and first gear is just useless under load and second gear spins round peak torque all the time. i was thinking of changing to smaller alloys like 15/16 but im worried that wheelspin will get worse? but with 15/16s id get premium tyres.. just wondering if you guys can help me out.

Diolch yn fawr!

Do you have an LSD?

Budget tyres ... i cant recommend against these enough mate. If you go 15" for example you can pick up Toyo T1R's or Yoko Parada Spec-2's which are decent tyres for around £30-£35 each. Tyres are a very important factor to your car and thats 1 area you should never go budget on as there what keep you on the road and allow your car to stop.

Most Starlets ive been in always spin first and second but they eventually grip in 2nd, joys of owning a turbo-charged FWD car, hope thats helpful.

yeah it does help iain, i was just wondering does the size and weight of the alloy matter tho? im thinking of getting buddy club sf 16" which are lightweight arnt they or rota or samurai 15" which are normal.

yeah like already said, tires are so important. Get rid of those budgets and get a performance tire on.. Makes the world of difference.
