manual all the way.. less complicated & just as good..

iv been using a turbosmart one for the past three years without a glitch..

ebc's are annoying, sure they claim to give better increases & more control... but seriously theres to much which could die with time.. more often than not, the simpler it is, the better it is .. lol

personly, electronic,

my manual spiked to 1.4+ bar once, no reason, was fine before, was fine after, just did it that once, am now still doing the headgasket

I havent really had a chance to properly play with my blitz ebc and power meter but I like how you can set different boost levels and gain for different speeds - I would imagine it would be good for 1st gear to tame wheelspin if I was running big HP which I am not lol...

Or you could just take your foot off the pedal a bit :p I like gadgets though and the power meters alarm function is good when you forget what speed you are doing on the motorway :)

Completely agreed, some better quality MBC's are good but you can't beat a Blitz DSBC EBC, so simple to use and holds boost perfect, cant be beaten.

Manuals do the job nicely and hold the boost to what it is set at without complication.

Electronic controllers have so much more functionality.

You can set more that one boost level
Have switches to flick through boost settings
You can set boost levels per gear on some controllers
You can control gain %, indicating how long you want the wastegate closed for etc

EBC's can really help with spool etc, but yes things can go wrong. Some have dodogy solnoids which can expire, such as the GReddy Profec Spec II.

I have one and love it and have not had any problems with the solnoid.

Some believe the daddy of boost controllers is the Apexi.

A lot of the time a good quality MBC will be more than fine, EBC's are great and can have a lot of functions but not many use them. Most EBC's are set no differently to a MBC with basic pressure control, it's only when you really play with them that you can extract the full potential which really needs to be done on a dyno.

If you plan to just fit by yourself and test on the road then a MBC will probably yield the same results, if you have some dyno time then this could be a different story. Don't forget boost control is mechanical whichever way you look, these BC's just aid the process.

I would agree with Nick the Blitz units are pretty solid.

manual boost controllers aka bleed valves are the same as electronic, like said above only advantage of electronic is you can play with the settings and play around with when the wastegate opens and how the boost comes in

MBC's are different to Bleed Valves Dan but know what you mean, some people just call MBC's bleed valves. The ones we sell don't actually bleed the air away. The stock hi/lo solenoid is also a bleed valve, it just bleeds the air away and is controlled electronically.

Like you've mentioned the main advantage is the extra functionality as long as you can actually harness this, like Gee has done using a dyno..

Or a Toy Tuning actuator!!! On a serious note if you just want to run a little more than stock boost then an adjustable actuator like our own or the HKS will do the job. The stock actuators become weak over time like any spring so it's a worth investment in the long run.
