Who's Seen The Shit Going Down On UKSC!!

I was shocked to find that I could log in using the same details as UKSC, without registering.

That's something else to be taken into account, taking a copy of login usernames and corresponding passwords for another database that holds private messages, PM's which may contain personal information. The data containing the login details may well be encrypted, but that doesn't mean it can't be decrypted and used for malicious purposes. I'm not saying there is any intention to do anything like this, but it's yet another plausible implication that should be considered.

To be honest, I wouldn't have minded if I had been asked, but I a long with others clearly wasn't, which is where the problems lay.
Some people may use the same password for other things as well, and if someone really wanted to use details for malicious purposes, they simply will.

^^ By doing what mate?
To me it seems, the shit may have been going on for 12 months, but the decision to take everything wasn't well planned.

Everytime during a serious debate, Jay pops up and produces one line'ers :haha:

As a developer myself, I know what sort of work goes into such a successful app, and for someone to maliciously change everything, definitely hits were it hurts. I dont mean that user details will be used maliciously, but just what has happened so far is malicious

Although I noticed someone calling it TGGT last night lol.

I remember a case where one person didn't agree with how things were, and got together with similarly-minded people. The result was that they, under direction of the leader decided to embark upon a new direction, and if people didn't conform, they were swept aside. If this sounds familiar, cast your mind back to the 1940's and recall the name Adolf Hitler. Just because a bunch of people get together and agree on something, doesn't make it right.

The UK laws on theft, intellectual property rights, data protection, financial information etc are very clear-cut and are strictly enforced. If I were a betting man, I know were my money would be going should legal action ensue...

^^^^ Really, your comparing the uksc-ukso situation to the hollocaust!!!

No, if you read it correctly, I'm likening the situation to one that occurred where one individual and his followers decided to follow an action without thinking of feeling or consequence. The point of my post was to remind people that just because you think what you've done is right, doesn't mean it is, and dictators always fall...

Brilliant example there....

But if a flaw in that theory though we're not violent racist dictators we just simply want the best for our community where anyone and everyone is welcome. And the feedback from our members is all positive so far. I knew people on here would have a strong opinion that was a dead cert in my mind however the interest with me and the rest of the staff on ukso is our members that's all that matters on this one

Also we've checked where we stand legally, one of the first things we did were ok thankyou

Possibly the most sensible, moral approach would have been to setup a new forum, and invite people on, rather than the undeniable, "collective" action that occurred. I can understand reasons for/why, and the majority approach, but its doesn't have complete approval from all (but won't be seen as a big deal by many).

The part that I don't like is the surprise movement of database logins to another forum, which in my line of work would get your fired and liable for prosecution.

I use TGTT almost all of the time, but there is great content on the Starlet site/s as well, just a shame it happened, just kind of mudded the community waters a little :(

I just hope the new site goes well, and there are no ongoing disputes and fall out etc...
