8GB isn't the hard drive, its the Ram, and its DDR5 running at 5500MHz. I haven't had a console in ages and all my gaming is on pc. You know at the minute we only have access to DDR3 with the average being used is 1600 while some may use 2133mhz. In the ram department,at least for the next few months,it is quite high spec. Only our GPU's have GDDR5. Besides, what game do you know that uses 8GB of ram?
No details on the HDD yet other than its 500GB
Oh right! I thought that's 8Gb SSD -) The microsoft is too greedy to put in the SSD -))))))))
There is no current DDR5 for sale on the market, nor DDR4 - the DDR4 will be coming out for sale next year only. The reason all the RAM has such long DDR3 stagnation is because there is no point for modern CPU's with Memory Controller integrated inside the chip, to have very fast RAM. There is no middleman anymore (chipset) thus making direct link between the RAM and CPU, where is the difference in speed between 1333Mhz and 2333Mhz is less than 5%, it's a waste of time and money to buy very expensive RAM. Yes the DDR4 is coming next year, but the main reason for that in my opinion is that they switch to new level Nn RAM architecture and it will be cheaper for them to make DDR4 rather than DDR3 and they will consume less power, however the initial cost will be higher than DDR3 RAM.
I've just read about the PS4 and looks like Both PS4 and new Xbox will have very similar hardware, both will definitely get AMD CPU with integrated APU (graphics chips), thus having no dedicated RAM they need as fast RAM as possible and looks like they will put GDDR5 in total of 8Gb for both CPU and GPU usage. I believe if the resolution will stay at 720p only then no more than 1500 Mb of Video RAM will be needed for the graphics chipset and the rest will be used by the CPU - very clever that is, also as the GDDR5 has dropped in price a lot, it's been on the market for a long time since 2008 and HD Radeon 4870, in fact I used to have this card in 2008 -)))))
I doubt the price of the game will have something to do with the consoles, in fact they will level the price of the console game and the PC game in order to get more profit - the consoles don't do ANY good for the PC gamers, they ruin the games, limit the graphics/sound/size of the game...
According to the world's leading analysts in the PC industry, starting from 2015 the Gaming computers will be more popular choice (in the world) than the gaming consoles, according to the recent trends more and more people buy PC's for gaming!!! That also explains why new generation consoles have x86 CPU!!!
My Current PC is pretty old now and probably need an upgraded graphics card -)
