1 bar on stock manifold?

If you get a ss mani you WILL regret it, taking the manifold on and off is a shitty job and if you go for stainless mani you will be an expert in manifold removal with all the trouble you will get.

Na my car runs fine no problems with the power and boost I am running. It doesnt seem to be hurting it at all. I am also running standard injectors and standard fuel pump as you just dont need them for 200bhp the E-Manage is sorting it all out fine and I am happy.

I am running 1.2 bar on a garret hybrid too not a standard ct9!:p

one of my mates has a dave burwash stainless manifold and decat and has not braced it and he has had no cracking issues yet. he must have had it on the car about 6months or so.

If there were an FAQ for "Most unadvisable Running Conditions", i'd be the Model Example for all...I have a 4efte running 1Bar with no RRFPR or Upgraded Injectors/Fuel Pump, Running a stock TMIC with no hood vent (just slightly spaced rear edge of bonnet), Standard Manifold and a modified Cynos (5efhe) Exhaust with a Glanza Downpipe

Yet my car is still functional (though I don't drive like a "yoof")

so i guess the answer to my original question is that it wont do much immediate damage if i turn up the boost now and wait a while till i get an uprated manifold of some kind.

alot of u guys are doing much worse things! that makes me feel better to be honest!

can you please tell me why you bother running 1bar at all?you say you dont drive it hard so why do you even need 1bar?why not turn the boost down instead of risking fucking your engine?

my motto has always been if you cant afford to do it right dont bother...

i have the ability to run 1 bar but rarely run it. i mainly stick at about 0.7bar. want a new manifold asap but nothing is really about unless i go stainless!

I'm sure the added power of 1Bar will be fun to enjoy once I can afford to go to a trackday again, once I get everything else needed to run it sensibly. Besides, not all of us Students are rich enough to afford everything at once, so excuse me whilst I ignore your attempted patronising ramblings

Only "cooling" measures at the moment are the SARD Thermostat, and the fact the Cynos radiator is bigger than the Starlet GT one plus no A/C Condenser to transfer hot air to the radiator...copes fine for now

i dont see the point of running 1bar with no supporting mods, but hey its you engine your risking....imo would be better off to turn it down as why bother have it set to 1bar when your not even using it?apart form to say its running a bar....as said if you cant afford to do it right why bother?a new engine will cost alot more than shelling out a few quid for a rrfpr, uprated mani/cooler...

I know what you're getting at chap, I'm fully aware it's a stupid thing to do but I have no money to be running sensibly, regardless, I get my loan soon so hopefully things should be coming soon.

Anyway, I'll have to change the actuator soon as I have gotten rid of the FCC, and running 1Bar in such a scenario would be a very Blonde thing of me to do...Dan, where are you, i'm too lazy

buddy ill tell you one thing... if your saying that the motor has been set up already for 1 bar , then im assuming you got forgies, uprated fuel pump ECT... which cost a lot of $$$... so my advice is since you spent so much spend a bit more to get a proper mani to sort your problem... otherwise your car would be lying in the garage...

oh and by the way i didn read the whole thread so im assuming one of our guys must have already given the same advice

the problem at the moment is there is a bit of a lack of decent manifolds about tbh.
is there anything but stainless ones about?

forged internals are totally unnecessary on CT9 running 1bar. stock internals have been proved to withstand power far above what the CT9 can produce. I'd even go as far to say that forgies are not need on a hybrid setup either....

anyway....

i ran 1bar on a stock mani. my headgasket went but it was unrelated to the mani. you could get away with it, but better safe than sorry.

the way i see it you have 4 alternatives.

port the stock one
get a JAM one
get a RR one
wait for speedvision to develop theirs.

you're gonna have to wait a short while for the last 3 though.

he has a jam actuator and cant turn it down if he drives it sensibly then it should be ok for a little while, i would get an rrfpr asap though

no worries, just put an OEM Actuator on now, and I just got my RRFPR, but no-one to install it/set it
