thats the problem we have track cars but we dont have any tracks ! so i dont justify street racing but what would you do if you live on a shitty island and dont even have a track??? I see only one solution ,now

Just a suggestion, but could you not try and organise a hillclimb/sprint day. get onto your local motor club i'm sure they would offer advice.

I use to take part in the hillclimb but now since there are a lot of f3 cars and a lot of snobs taking part everything has to be Fia approved and have roll cage in my street car and have Fia approved firesiutes! So i cant take part any more

It only takes someone with the same idea to come from the other direction to cause an accident regardless of traffic.

You have drag strips in Malta and other people have taken part in hill climb events so there's no reason to race on the streets.

not necessarily, i'll tell you a little story and this is why i personally take a very slim view on street racing.

2 years ago 2 friends of mine ( the two of them were inseparable, best friends ) were on the way home, one driving a Toyota Levin and the other driving a honda civic. this was at about 11 o clock at night. about literally 1 Km from home ( on a road they have travelled more times than any other ) they decide to have a bit of craic as there are no other cars on the road ( bear in mind i live in a very rural part of ireland ) so the fell in front ( civic ) puts the foot down and takes off the other fella in the Levin does the same. now after about 200 meters the fella in the Civic hits an awkward dip and goes into the ditch and manages to pull it out from the ditch but spins into the middle of the road. now there is another car following him. he breaks but it is too late he hits the civic square on on the drivers side of the car. kills the fella in the civic instantly.

Now think of this, you have the family of the fella that was killed who are devastated( but in fairness to them the did not hold a grunge agenst the fella that crashed into him ) and the other fella who has to live with the guilt of killing his best friend for the rest of his life all because the wanted to have a bit of craic.........

We have a drag strip 1 and we are talking about track do you think drag racing is thesame as track racing? i guess no i just go there as its the only way to try the full power of the car ( and end up breaking something everytime) And as i said before i use to take part in 3 hillclimbs a year now its not possible with the new rules and regs as i explained. If we had a track i would be more than happy to pay and go and race my car in there there is no question asn for the car from the opposite side there id double guard rail in bypass so even if another car came racing on the other side and lost control cant come on your side.

What people get up to is their own business. I am with Jay, Frankie and the others on this one, the site is NOT a street racing site and never will be. There are mountains of websites out there with kids talking about "kills" ... if you want to discuss your heroism on the roads I suggest you go to one of those sites and do it.

Very sad story and sorry for that but accidents will happen whatsoever so are you one that wouldnt travel by plane cos it might fall? there is always a risk in whatever you are doing as you said you could be driving sensible and another guy smash into you and kill you or leave you disabled so did your driving sensible change anything in this case ?no !i know i live ones so i try to enjoy the only hobby i have i dont drink ,i dont smoke , and i dont do drugs so shouldnt i have one funken enjoyment in life?

Sure I know the difference between drag racing and proper motorsport. Yes I'm a little more lucky living in a country that feels like a home to motorsport.

But the above sounds like you want to drive fast in a straight line to me, so why not on the drag strip.


I think all the staff here are in agreement that we will not approve of any form of street racinging to 'degrade' the content of this forum. So by all means put yourself and others in danger on the streets of Malta but don't post about it here.

I do.. equating a crash caused by illegal racing to the risk involved in taking a flight... then saying because you dont smoke or do drugs you should be allowed street race... if you can derive some logic from that then feel free to explain it to the rest of us.

Yes there is always a risk in everything you do, you could get into the shower fall hit your head and be killed, but that is something you do not have control over, same as flying it's more than likely not your fault if the plane crashes. but the simple fact is you do have a choice to street race so if you do kill someone doing so it is your fault, because if you had not been driving recklessly then it would not have happened. that statement about me driving sensible not changing it but look at it this way there is a lot better chance of me being able to avoid the accident if i am not speeding, messing and in complete control of the car. i can't count on two hands how many times i have avoided accidents by driving in a proper manner fitting the situation i am in. as well as i can't count how may times a civic has blazed past me thinking i would follow him. all because the above accident runs through my mind.
