Are/was starlets in Japan not like what nova's/corsa's are here? i.e cheap and get ragged about? :p

I know i'm biast but i think bens k24 gt which Trevor imported was a brill example of their modifying these lil ep's! All forged, fmic, ecu etc was a real good setup! And from what Trevor said they were rather angry when they found out it hadn't been stripped.

Like someone said above i think they are onto bigger and better things? isn't there a fact saying they are 15yrs ahead of technology wise? surely they are way ahead car modding too :p

could be but the japanese would stick to "rules" when doing a moded engine and as they have every part available they will change anything in the engine . Here in Malta we try our own means and ways and modify engines in unconventional ways :p and we still get good results in my opinion better than the japanese. on youtube you find ep82 with hks kits and others only running high 13's , 14's and even 15's here we run 13's with ct9! probably the japanese would tell you its not even possible!

Which would indicate your knowledge of JDM EP tuning. Euro-types would be the first to change turbochargers and 'forge' their engines. The Japanese typical don't change from a CT until in the 200hp range. As someone that's stuck with my CT9 is been because I was told so by the Japanese friend who tuned his EP91 to 169ps (at the wheels) and that was a light tune with bolt on parts, and a standard 4E-FTE. He spent the rest of his money on making his car really fast with suspension mods. Like I have.

From my tuning experience it takes about 155whp to get you into the 13 on an EP so his power was well within that range.

Thats a bit rich coming from you, dont you think?
TD04'd 275bhp Glanza, over 300hp per ton.....

As for blowing all there cash on "balanced" modifications, thats sh1te.
How many cars do you see that are well balanced and can be used straight off the boat? Thats right, very little.

As for high powered 5e builds, thats called pushing boundries, which is a good thing for the car in question.
If nobody tried diffirent things, then we would all still be buying overpriced parts from Japan.

I like to think my car is better than everyones, but everyone has that opinion.

Yes, I had a TD04L.

My point is, it was very common..not exactly ground breaking.

Not knocking the turbo, we are talking about modified UK EP's and Japanese EP's.

Do you think that EVERY Starlet worth knowing about is up for import? There are real enthusiasts out there who may not let go of their EP, might store it away etc.

Comparing modified EP's here, to only ones you see on up for auction is silly.

Everything here we do (almost) is a copy of what the Japanese have already done! TD04, TD05, 5EFTE..

We have seen twin engined Starlets over in Japan, ever seen one here?

What the Japanese have done far surpasses what I have seen here in the UK.

Anyway, think Hardcore said it all...

As my previous thread, this is all IMO..we all have one.

Your right, I'm wrong.

Goodnight :)

Well if someone here has built an EP that can compare to the HRF V300 or the JAM EP91 (I know its not the most powerful) then I'd like to see it!

Until then Japanese tuned EP's FTW!:p

Jap or ours

The way I see it the Japanese tuning companies are the Elite.Saying that they had unlimited budgets.I rekon there are a few people on here who could outdo the Japanese if they had the budget.Private owners in Japan verses private owners on here the people on here win hands down.Saying that there are exceptions for example my 1500 GT it was built by a private owner and is a quality build. Most Japanese private builders didn't go as far as private owners here tend to do.
