Sounds to me like the head and block surface are not sealing properly, i.e possibly warped.

T

yep thats what we've concluded.

it's the block that isnt sealed properly, cos the head was skimmed :)

so the conclusion is that the block is warped, which means i will have to get it stripped doewn, and because it's being stripped down i'm facing myself with a financial dilema :(

Yeah I think your right mate, really important to face the block as well especially with a metal head gasket. Don't worry you will get there mate your a dab hand with the spanners which is the most important part!

doubtful its a cracked block mate.

i was speaking to dave b, and he said he had a similar problem, eventually found it, the block was warped by just 2thou, but had to take 6thou off to get it perfect

well, heres some weirdness..... took it for a test. i knew system was a bit overfilled anyway so expected some to blow out. it blew out from low to high in the overflow. - now may car runs a sard expansion tank kit also... the expansion tank sits empty. the rad isnt full to top but not far off. the temps seem to stay fine amd even with endless hammering afterwards no more coolant has been pushed out. very strange???

so it pushed some out initially and now it's ok?

let it cool down, and then go out again, check to see where all the fluid is now, it's possible that the rad has cured your problem.

Doesnt sound strange to me..the radiator was fucked :D

Hope its all sorted anyhows.

As above.

Best bet would be to empty the over flow tank, and take it out again. Will give you an indication if it is still pushing water out.

I really hope it has worked out though, the car is a ledgend! :p
