right after changing my headgasket, my car seems to be pressuring the water system worse than it was before i done it.

now i know i done the headgasket properly, because i done it lol.

but is there any thing else, it's doing my head in, and my car needs burning

the head was skimmed, and the blockseemed ok when i put a straight edge on it.

i put a new 1.1 bar radcap on also, and a new thermostat has also been fitted

@ dave, i'm not sure if i can be arsed to take the head off again. i'm thinking forged rebuild and bigger turbo

We are having the same problem as Rick and are getting quite stuck. Had the head skimmed new HG on new bolts on, the block was checked by two seperate ppl to see if it was out all was deemed ok.

Now taking the car out at normal boosting was ok, under very hard acceleration (flat out through the gears) its blown coolant out so the expansion tank is full but once its done it once it doesnt seem to do it again.

When you look in rad you cant see the coolant level, nor does it come up when you squeeze the hose. BUT at this level the car does not overheat at all keeps its temps fine.

When you top coolant back up it seems to chuck the same amount out again and stay there again.

Went out in car and gave it a blast and pulled up and felt the rad. It seems be hot at one side, so you cant keep your hand on it, but at the other side its just warm, i.e you can keep your hand there. Wondering if the rad is bad flowing?

Its a big rad kinda same size as a glanza one but big style rad caps on it. Obviously could be very old, but dont wanna be wasting money. Just cant see it being the HG again, after everything has been checked so thoroughly.

check your water lines on your turbo are sealed coz i changed my turbo and when puttiong the wate rlines back on i did not get a decent seal so is blowing out water but in return for the water being pushed out something eventually has to fill that space. i am not sure if it pulls air in when you switch off or during boost or general drivin. probably not it but give it a try. have you popped any hoses off at all coz i have been popping some when she gets hot.

kelly,if you suspect a radiator problem you can get them flow tested by a radiator reconditioners and recored if needed:)

90% of these problems we have in here are caused by the block. 2 or 3 though can cause problems and is very hard to see unless machined properly

i thought it was extremley hard to warp a block on these cars?

Like i said the block was checked my two people and wasnt out enough to warrant any work doing. :(

thats strange i've plastic end tank ones recored before and new end tanks made where new radiators aren't available

it's possible i suppose.

the radiator specialists we use via work, wont do plastic tanks because they are very brittle after years of use.

The saga continues!

Sorry I have nothing better suggest, hope you get to the bottom of it.

For what it's worth, I've seen a lot of mk1's with blocked radiators. Enough to consider the radiator a weakspot.
