Seems like that is one of the early first editions. Do some research mate, these are known to be a little twitchy, especially in the wet. The later editions had some suspension tweaks making them less prone to scary moments.

The major one for the early S2000's is seizing suspension geometry adjustment bolts. I think your looking at like £1000 to sort out, so check this out before buying!

I wouldnt say the EK9 and S2000's are different leagues out of the box but are very different cars for obvious reasons.
The S2000 is undoubtly more beautiful (IMO) and has the better base of FR setup and 2.0L engine and 2.2L for the later models.
Stock EK9/S2000 times at Tsukuba:
EK9 - 1:09.48
S2000 - 1:07.92
I would of had a S2000 over an EK9 to be honest, but had to make some compromises, so EK9 it is and I'm happy.
