It did, but hat exactly did it do?
I couldnt feel it on my MR2's:confused:

was just a lame effiency thing!
not comparable really, and vvt isn't really,to be fair, its only a change of cam timing, and has no effect on lift/profile like the honda system, (apart from on the later vvtli engines)

Course it is :p

Anyhoo, just been to see my brother and been out in his 2007 CTR and oh my god, what a complete let down! I was expecting something somewhat entertaining to happen when VTEC kicked in (y0!) but all that really happens is a slight change in exhaust note and thats about it.

He said he absolutely hated driving it and much preferred his GT4 as the CTR lacked torque (obviously) and he felt you had to rev the crap outta it in order for it to go anywhere and even when he did it was by no means quick! He himself said my Starbo felt much quicker and I agree! What is the 0-60 time on the '07 CTR? It cannot be quicker than a Starlet, if so, its a filthy lie!

Like i said the other day mate, no comparison. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. Expect much fun in V-TEC and you'll be let down big time!:p

They say the CTR does 60mph in 6.6 seconds I think.

Edit - I mean the EP3 here.

no your wrong, ek9 is way better than a starlet to drive,
you obviously never been in one driven correctly, loads of people on the ek9 forum have converted from well modified starlets to a ek9 and never looked back,
narrow minded poeple like you really piss me off, your dont understand, this was a good thread but has been ruined!

Mate you seem pretty bloody narrow minded yourself he is allowed to have his opinion ok not everyone has to agree with you

The 07 type r civic is quoted at doing well over 8 secs without a launch according to autospeed can even be slower http://www.autospeed.co.nz/cms/A_109041/article.html

The Tvis made my levin go faster could feel it above 3000 rpm

yes correct, its not fast really, but it wasn't designed to be, thats what people dont seem to understand, if honda had wanted them to be for out right speed they would of probably resorted to forced induction.... but they didn't, ek9's and dc2's were devoloped on track, and with out experienceing a real type r in the right hands i dont think people can understand,

a lot of people are posting comments on this topic based on emotions not genuine facts or experience.

Yes! Finaly someone that knows what im on about. ek9s rule! Love the car to bits. Just been with my mate in the ek9 today, i just want it now.

Its a stock car but how can i make the vetec sound really agressive like some of them on youtube? anyone?

They sound awesome when the vetec kicks in.

People really need to stop thinking that the Vtec system will give them what a turbo charger does. Torque.

Its like Scotland and Japan, F*ck all the same.

why are people getting soo touchy and serious in this thread...

ITS AN OPINION, SOme like the Vtecs and some dont... I personally dont think anyone is being especially narrow minded but just goving an opinion upon their expereince or view....

I like them, its something a little different to the norm... Although i wouldnt buy one unless was very well modded or turbod....

I new it would be torqueless but I still expected more. And I also realise that the 2007 CTR is by no means the best CTR to have had a ride in and is not at all like the JDM CTR's of the 90's. But I was expecting something somewhat exciting from it! Someone wanna take me out in an EK9 pwease? :D

What did you expect? A great big thump in torque?

There is no torque, just revs, hence it doesnt feel fast.
Its torque that makes a car feel super dooper fast, because it throws you back.

what i'm saying is based on genuine facts and experience of both, not emotions and opinions,
its obvious that most of the people on here are going to favour the starlets, its a starlet forum after all!
it just annoys me when people slag off what they dont understand.

the 07 ctr is not a good example of a vtec car, its like going out in a n/a mr2 and then saying all toyotas are crap based on experience of not a very good car.

I pulled away from an 08 plate CTR. I also went round knockhill in one and was very unimpressed!!!

Although, EK9's are lovely!!

No I expected it to be quick; it didn't feel quick nor was it quick in terms of speed it could achieve in a certain time. Read the first sentence of my post.
