Is this by Newhall Street??? Traffic wardens and police seem to be shit hot around the uni's and colleges in Brum! My GF goes to the BCU health uni in Edgbaston and she parked in a zone 5 mins before 9 (which you aren't supposed to do until 9) and returned to her car to find a £60, issued 1 minute before 9 lol! Bastards or what! I reckon he was hiding in a bush or up a tree waiting to pounce!

Summer row, ladywood it states for location. i dont often go to birmingham but i did it as a favour as its my day off to save her time and parking, but obviasly didnt work.


there just arseholes, if i was blaitently causing an obstruction or had left the car there unattended i can see there point, but the pure fact i was sitting in it with the engine running really fuks me off.

As for the 1 minuet to 9 thats jsut as fukin rediculas, they must work on some sort of bonus scheme

my question is where did they park??? and how long did they keep u there without moving u on???

if u were causing that much of an obstruction why did they leave u sitting there longer?

i know some coppers quite well i will ask and see what they say!!!

but it doesnt help there cause when they do things like this?

i know some coppers that are really nice and actually see the world with common sense, so you give them respect back if they respect you.

Asume the 3 points stay on extra year i asume instead of 3 its 4, after that, you can ask dvla to have it removed.

Only way I can think of to get out of it is check if there are any mistakes with the markings. There's a huge volume of silly little details that have to be right for markings to be enforceable, and if one tiny detail is wrong, the fine and points will be invalid.

I can understand why they punished you though - an obstructive car could cost a life if it blocked an ambulance, and though that wasn't going to happen in this instance they have to be consistent, same rule for everyone. People are far less likely to do the same thing again if they've been fined rather than merely had a telling off.
I do think it's too harsh though - I'd say just a fine the first time and dish out points to re-offenders.

Incidentally, I got a £60 fine for parking on a yellow (I usually only go there off peak, completely forgot it was rush hour) and only had to pay £30 because I paid promptly. For thirty quid at least you could get drunk a couple of times.

they left me where i was and was there for about 3mins overall before the copper left, he actualy left before me still sitting in the same place.

If i was causing an ubstrustion, which i clearly wasnt, i was sitting there with my belt on and teh engine running waiting to move anyway. My GF was out of the car for 35seconds MAX

I fukin hate the whole points on licence business. its just another con for insurance companys and power mad police

I know parkin wardens have wait by the car for a few mins before they are allowed to issue tickets is it not similair for the police?

I was behind the police other day who had to stop and give way to traffic coz a car was on our side of road double parked with the other side and on double yellows slowing all traffic down. but they did nothing! it seems they only work when it suits.

EDIT - sorry just realised you stopped on the zig zag lines not yellows :S kinda whole diff ball game! wish the police would come to ryans school where all the school mums park on the yellow zig zag lines.

say it was broken down buddy? they aint got evidence of ur car running no video footage just say it was broken down and the batt was flat allso if u kno anyone in the recovery buisness get them to give u an invoice for the car bein broken down and toed that day should get u out of it instently becoz its not ur fault it broke down there

ive gone aginst them for doing me 3 points and 60quid fine for goin through an amber light and becoz theys got no footage im still waiting for a reply to go court ( 6 months down the line ) only thing is they still got my lisence lol =[ no track time for me

i had the same situation last year, it was 10 at night ran in to a shop to get some bread, as i walked in i seen the blue lights n thought sh*t. i didnt actually go to court, but i got told that the only way off getting out of it would be to say that there was something wrong with the car. litterally i was parked there for 20 seconds. pure p*sstake.

Surely it's reasonable that in that situation you push the car to a safe location.
