Help with bumper after fitting fmic!

Yep, aircon is still fitted, but not for much longer, it will be getting ripped out very shortly.

Probably got the bottom in about 2". I removed the mounting bolts from the bottom of the cooler, but left them bolted to the car, pushed the cooler back as far as I could get it and marked the brackets where the new holes needed to be. I then removed the bottom brackets, drilled the holes and cut the excess part of the brackets off.

Also, did you modify/bend the middle bracket of the bumper bar, there's a fair amount of space to be gained there.

I just squashed it up with a pair of pliers, it didn't take much effort.

Doesn't look that great, but you can't see it when the bumper is on and you still keep the strength in the bumper bar that you would lose if you cut the bracket off.

Replacement bumper seems the best option buddy.

Not sure why everyone thinks there is less room behind a mk1 bumper TBH. I've fitted a WEPR frontmount to both mk1 and mk3's and found the mk1 actually required less cutting..

The HDi looks very close to the Blitz kit from your pictures. Certainly the piping looks similar. Maybe other HDi users can post some pics of how theirs sit? Then you can see how to approach the bumper trimming.

I'll see how I get on fitting a Blitz FMIC with a mk1 bumper before I comment further. Might be tempting fate otherwise!

I've fitted a WEPR cooler to my GT and it fits pretty well but having seen a HDI core first hand I can honestly say they are unnecessarily thick! They are big bastards! lol

Tbh mate, your best option is to just get a new MK2 bumper and fit that! Your poor bumper :( I really like the MK1 bumpers and you've gone and destroyed yours! Shame and derision upon you! :p

Yes admittedly i got a smaller thinner piece of metal and replaced the metal supporting bracket, with the the thinner metal piece i had this gave me more space to move the Cooler back a little bit it in fact saved me enough space to not cut much more out of my bumper yes it was a tight fit putting it back on but it fitted and looks fine.

I will have to take some more pics of it all i will do if i get some time Friday.

Cheers mate that looks pretty easy to do, think i may attempt this if i get time tomorow see if i can get the kit moved back a bit, cheers mate appreciate the help, if you didnt move the cooler back/bend that bar would it have fouled the bumper on the pasnger side with the pipe?

Looks like you are starting to go overkill again lol. Like i say the kit was not really suited for the GT's and more so the Mk1 by the looks of things, if you lived closer i would of given a hand.
