that is it at the end of the day, a bit of luck and awareness and officers mood. I do normally always try to drive very reasonable in most situations and only give it a little bit of acceleration when it can be done but if your caught on a speed gun then thats all the reason they need to do you regardless of how safe it was or not....

Just have to take it like a man and accept responsibility, i just wish police could be more lenient in certain situations and have a little bit of compassion.... They are far form innocent themselves and they can see im a young man thats trying to earn a living and not intending to cause mischief, so have a little bit of grace.

Thats just too much to ask though isnt it :(

wounder mate, all you can do now is go to court and plead your case. you may be hit with a large fine instead.

You are all completely right, this is all the police officers fault. How dare he not be lenient after finding dangerous tyres? After all Dan was only driving it, it's not like he gets paid to check tyres or something coz they're not even electrical. Man, I hate it when people do their job.

If you are the main driver of any vehicle, then its your responsability to check it over.

As for the speeding, well we all do it, but when driving, you have to be aware.
Not exactly hard to see a big van or Volvo with reflective stripes down it?

I think people get the wrong idea when they read certain posts etc.

Im not blaming anyone but myself... Speeding is speeding and bald tires are bald tires, BUT there are people that get away with blue fucking murder so its not compulsory to give points for every single circumstance. Its at the officers discretion meaning they "can" let you off... And for the bald he could have given me a warning and reported me so if i get pulled again the officer is aware i have a bald tire, as i was more then prepared to go straight to the tire place and grab one there and then...

He could have let me off in that situation... I wasnt speeding or anything!

Rory, its not that hard to see but when they are hiding round corners it does get tricky! and thats exactly what they did when i got caught.... I had slowed down to 30mph by the time they where in my vision.... But that bloody speed gun gets you from all the way down the road, as said 490 yards away!

Remember i have never been caught speeding so its not like im really unaware or make a habit of speeding all the time, i have just had plain bad luck.

thats why i stated in a previous post i think people are getting the wrong idea when its written down.

Trust me, i do not blame the police however i do believe things can be dealt with in a more lenient way in certain situations. There are people out there that have no points and drive uninsured all the time/drink drive etc and get away with it... Im a decent person that works hard for his money. I do not think i particularly deserved the last 6 points but hay, at the end of the day i cant blame them as i was in the wrong.

Im sorry for my insult but you do come across extremely irritating at the best of times. That post was uncalled for, i am quite upset about the situation as you can imagine i may loose my job to this, which is my life.

pay a solicitor to write a letter saying how driving is part of your job, and that if you have no licence then you have no job and that'd you'd have to sponge off the goverment until the ban is up. or dya only get banned over 12 points???

It blows mate, too many "holier than though" perfect drivers on here, which I wouldn’t worry about, probably need to validate there insignificant lives by throwing about childish sarcasm which is as clever as it is helpful.

I used to drive the works van all the time and didn’t do any checks at all, its just not something that you think about lol not your car not your problem kinda thing.

proper shame that is fella ive also had my fair share of not so nice coppers seems like you attract more of those type when you drive a starlet. ive just come off 2 asbos lastin a year they seized my starbo had it in the impound for 4 days just waitin another year for my 3 points to come off too. well u can always get a tow 4 ya starbo to tracks and that cant ya in worst case scenario but to be honest given your work if you plead it you should get by ive also got a few friends that have kept thiers on that account

Not good fella hope it all works out , its just the way it goes sometimes I have a court summons in November for doing 50 in 30mph with everyone else doing the same as me it was rush hour on a friday and I was following other cars.

They had a speed gun hid behind some bushes and got every other car, there was then another load of police waiting waving us over, 100 yards down the road.

NO if NO buts they gave me a summons and in there report they could not even describe what clothes I was wearing or the car. There was honestly about 12 police officers dealing with that area when they could have been preventing crime. or doing something better. I have never been pulled over or even got points in my 5 years driving, and I even explained I worked for an Emergency service but Poilce CUNTstable didnt have it.

The offending road was huge rural and they knew exactly what they were doing in terms of positioning and layout as they were not visible at all and the road goes from National to 30 in the matter of 200 yards as well. As I said they virtually got every other car .

I know speeding is speeding and there is no way around the fact but circumstances should be taken into consideration.

After reading through this, I'm a bit shocked by some of the answers. More than a few folk on here really need to get off their 'high horse' and join the rest of us in the real world.

Like you've all never speeded, and could never possibly drive a car with a bald tyre.

Dan, it could have happened to anyone on here, and I hope someone with a harsh comment gets similar to show them that.

Ive got alot of common sense, thats all. And ive never stated i never speed.
My tyres are checked weekly as well, along with the rest of the car.
