Wasn't necessarily directed at you, or anyone in this thread to be honest. I just seem to see absolutely no sympathy at all from loads of folk on here, and its a bit harsh for such a close knit community.

Human error has a lot to answer for. Anyone could be caught out at any time, 4 times (like dan) isn't so much for someone driving too work and at work, and thats all it takes :( Also, with the pressure everyone is under these days, we're all in a constant rush and its very hard to take time out (at least for me) to look over the car every month, let alone week.

Just my opinion of course. Its not right, but it happens (important things being overlooked or just pushed aside).

Dave,

I understand what you are saying.
Dan was in the wrong place at the wrong time (4 times over)

As he has pointed out, he isnt looking for sympathy, he knows he has done wrong.

I think the problem is your starlet is too fast for you and you cant help but speed. Therefor I will help you out by taking the offending car of your hands and even throw you a couple of hundred quid for your bus pass. How generous am I!!!!!

After reading through this, I'm a bit shocked by some of the answers. More than a few folk on here really need to get off their 'high horse' and join the rest of us in the real world.

Like you've all never speeded, and could never possibly drive a car with a bald tyre.

Dan, it could have happened to anyone on here, and I hope someone with a harsh comment gets similar to show them that.

Dave

Fair comment everyones allowed an opinion, its just such an Arse that Dan got done in such a short space of time.

Remember motorists are the most targeted group of people there is as its so easy to get revenue from us.

However if he had been an elderly person and Doctor etc etc would this have happened probably not a slap on the wrist more than likely would have happened.

i know where dan is coming from, i drive company vans and it was only a couple of months ago i realised that the van i had been driving round in for months had no mot and hadn't had it for about 5 months and didn't have any tax! i was very lucky and if id been caught police would have bounced me!!
anyway lately its been touch and go for me with being clocked by the Mobile camera's! such basterds!! up2 now iv been ok, but when there hiding round the corner and your doing just over 30 in a 30 there a pain in the arse! feel for you dan! i thought id got 6 points in 2 days the other week, but i hadn't. its soo easy to rack up points! hope things go the way you want them 2 dan and i hope you don't loose your licence!
and for the people posting bent comments wake up, we all speed, and some are more fortunate than others but if the same thing had happened to us we'd have something to say!
end of rant

@idrees, cheers pal, yeah there certainly is....

@Mcleod, think the solicitor is the best bet mate. Normally you get banned after 12 points but there are situations where your given another chance.... And cheers for the link :) great help!

@59bhp, i agree with your post 100% mate... so true. on both parts! Thanks for the luck bud, im gona need it.

@Hybrid_Grant, shit mate, see you have also had your fair share bad experiences! and thats most definitely a bright side about your pals keeping theres due to their jobs, fingers crossed!

@KrissyB, Thats exactly what im saying, why the hell are they out there, all those police using up useful time to put points on peoples licenses when only doing 50MPH... I know speeding is dangerous but for crying out loud, on certain roads is it really necessary for that many all standing guard with their guns??? Cheers mate and for the number, id this for a solicitor?

This is real life guys, and it doesnt always go right... ever heard of good guys finish last, well, not completely the same but you know what im trying to say.

I was on 9 points for a while and I can tell you it sure does make you drive slower. Its unlucky that its all happened so quickly and I know that sometimes the punishment can seem excessive. My first set of points i ever got were for doing 31 - yes thats 31mph in a 30. caught by a camera when they first came out. was manyyears ago and I just paid the fine and accepted the points. I wouldnt do that now for that speed, I would fight it tooth and nail.
Try everything you can to keep your license but I think you may be out of luck. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Any ways my offer of £200 still stands for the car!!

lol^^^

Cheers buddy.... 31 in a 30, i cant really believe it, i dont know what i'd do! thats ridiculous!!!!

The thought had crossed my mind in selling it..... But i cant, im keeping it regardless what happens.. Ive canceled my insurance already as im keeping it off road for a long long time... Weather i keep my license or not points are still going to remain on it and wont be able to do nout wrong for 3 years till there all off... sooooo...

Ive decided on getting a newer car, that alot less powerful and nowhere near as attention seeking as my car, so the choice is HUGE :p

Im going to opt for a honda S2000... They go for around £14K for around 20-30K on the clock... They haven't got much power lower end so its not easy to excessively speed and it blends in quite well with a more mature look... I will be keeping it very standard might i add. My credit history is excellent as ive never once faulted a payment and have already been offered a 15K loan, but going for finance instead.....

I think thats alot more sensible then putting mine back on the raod forged up ready for 400+ BHP wouldnt you say? Mine will be back though! so dont forget about it!

not really, learn some self control lad ;)

you can excessively speed in a kia pride if you wanted to, so the cars got nowt to do with it ;)

But putting your foot down for a few seconds reaching distrurbing speeds definietley has got something to do with it... Not only that the car attracts too much attention and police really look for these things.... The car has alot to do with it, especially mine, and my driving style.... And not only that the more power you have the temptation is greater.

Thats how i work anyway, we are all different.

And yes i will certainly be driving slower and more sensibly, and the S2000 is more to pose and enjoy the drive but it has the decent power to.

Only just read this sorry hear about it Dan, i havent read through everyones replies. I know we all try and behave but theres no way we dont all make mistakes and speed here and there especially on the roads the coppers love to sit on , the ones where ppl would sometimes guess the speedlimit is higher than it actually is.

When it goes to court try explain you need your licence for your job, it works for celebs :(

thanks for your input kelly, and yeah your right about the roads, its always the case, and this particular road seems to be getting quite bad with traffic officers... It looks like im going to have to be very very careful now...

sorry to hear dude, does suck they all came at once... just try to push the fact you need a car for work, they do tend to not have as much leway for people who already have point though.

good luck with it, they might jsut order you to retake your test which sucks but better than a ban
