its not a fair judgment cause everbody(tester) is different, not being cheeky but what if the tester is partially deaf and he passes you then next year the tester can hear perfect and he fails you! how can it be???

there is no law on a maximum decibel level for a cars exhaust

There are a lot of things in a MOT test that are at the discretion of the tester though, luck of the draw with a lot of things

You may get away with it at the test station but if the cops stop the exhaust is not orginal, they will bend you over for it. No way around that.

Im standard @ the moment, (but will changin soon).

bollox to that! This country is becoming more like a fucking dictatorship every day! Are they not content enough of robbing the driver blind of his/her hard earned money that theyre tellin us what we can n cant do with our cars?! Soon we'll be like Switzerland where you cant modify ur car at all from standard ffs! :shoot:

they can pull me if they want, not changing it back to standard though fuck that. Earlier on today i saw 2 burnt out cars on the came road, why dont they try to find the little arseholes that did that? Because it involves work thats why. It'l never be enforced anyways, that way half the cars in the country would be ilegal/ off the road and they'd loose a fortune. Fuck em!

ive just looked threw the mot note records, and he is right this notice was sent out.

all i can say is itll be down to the MOT testers discretion, to wat what they think is too loud!

there is so many rules like this that i doubt many people will take notice really.

its more of a reminder that excessively loud exhausts should not be allowed, but aslong as it isnt tooooooooo bad then im sure itll be ok

yeh i think this is going to be really hard to enforce tbh..

well the poo are more than welcome to try and keep up if they want to pull me..

i wonder what the discression is re screamer pipes.. i know they are illegal as it tstands but will this be considered an exhaust?!

They failed mine on exhaust sound, all I did was put abaffle up there and he passed it, didn't change exhaust...

i have a full blitz nur spec r system on my ep82 and i was fined over a year and a half ago for excessive noise, i bought the baffle for it and have had that fitted since and not had any bother about it since and the MOT tester last time said that the car wasn't even loud cos i mentioned to him about how stupid it was being fined for it etc. loads of my mates have had a lot of bother round my way but they seem to try and do everyone one month then leave it a while then try again.

quite interested in those controller thingys though cos my car sounds sooo much nicer without the baffle in the exhaust and with that i could take it out and have it as loud as i want when no one is around then just shut it up if i needed too :rockon:

This has been a law for a fair bit I thought, although never heard of anyone failing due to it. And some of my mates have quite loud exhaust.

Don't let the man get you down. Just put standard one on for mot. Kind of like the de cat situation really.

Just follow what i did. My trust exhaust system is near silent unless i put my foot down and then its not even that bad.

Just make the system quiet, im getting a new middle section soon and making it silent lol.

all i get around my way is an idle test anyway lol

Vosa would have to give me the money back that my exhaust cost + supply a standard one before i'd take it off blegh, lets be honest if they did enforce it with fines+points i'd be the first one to stop driving the starlet.
