be careful mate, sounds dodgy to me!

But also, as far as im aware, if a copper is off duty, there is stuff all he can do...

I had a run in with one once, who decided he was going to try and do me for speeding...

"im an off duty police officer, and you were speeding if youd like to come to the station with me..."

"your off duty?"

"yes"

"well fuck off then"

And drove off... never heard anything about it, and everything ive seen says they cant do squat if they are off duty

Different circumstances, but my Brother-In-Law came back home after a night out, andf walked back with 2 lads. The lads thought it funny to do some vandalism on the way back, and my BIL decided to leave them and walk back. The Police woke him up @ 2.30am, said he had been seen and his name given by the other 2 lads, and they carted him off. Fortunately, the lads admitted he hadn't done anything, but the lesson's there... The Police CAN act upon leads/sightings etc, and CAN take you in as a result. All you have to do is hope you don't get convicted as a result...

mate they did this to me as well.there is not much they can do.they are just trying to shit you up.they gave me alot of shit about how i would go to court and het banned but after a half hour talking to they just sed they were putting an ASBO on my car yes an ASBO on a car.they put it on for 9 month.it just means if they catch you again they will impound the car.then you just go down and pay to get it out.there is no way they can crush it.

This threads a bit pointless without the details. If you were doing 32mph in a 30, then its a matter of you being picked on. If you've been hammering it down residential roads, breaking road regs badly, then chances are they will have some way of catching you out. First thing I'd do mate is phone the local police station and ask if they have any record of the visit, because if not, chances are they're not legit.

Hopefully you don't get into any trouble, but if anything take it as a reminder to drive a little slower and more carefully dude. Saves a lot of stress!

here the law for section 59

Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 states that any person driving a vehicle on or off a road in a manner that causes nuisance or inconvinience to other road users or members of public will recieved a warning that lasts for 12 months.

If at any point within that 12 month period you are caught driving in a similar manner then your car can be seized by the police and you'll have to pay a penalty to get it back. This is normally in the region of £200 depending how long they keep it for and what area you live in.

This power is executable by Police officers and Police Community Support Officers ONLY.
A security guard cannot give you a section 59 however he can provide a witness statement to the police who can give you one.
The warning has to be given verbally, then you must also recieve a written copy of the warning. This will either be in the form of a ticket or on police letter-headed paper.

The warning cannot be challenged in court.

youll be fine the police always make threats to worry people then dont act on them , my mate got pulled by traffics doing 95 in a 50 zone in his teg . The police told him loads of stuff would happen and nothing has a year on .

they cant do any thing they either want your car as they can get away with it and say they didnt take it ect coz all police will belive all police but if you get there numbers witch is a normal thing to do you will shit them up back and somtimes they will tell you the truth either way ring the police station and explain he wasent driving like and idea to police officers off duty at the time as they both said them selfs saw you playing in the snow ect for no reason what so ever wake you and your family up at 1.30 in the morning clearly not seeing that the car they saw aint home but still do knock its not on you can complain.......

So what your saying is you were driving stupidly over the speed limit, at a time where there is a lot of black ice around, on a public road on a saturday night.

Sorry mate but you sound like the kind of prick that gives youngsters a bad name and contributes to our insurance premiums/road fatalities.

there is a time and a place for this kind of driving
and in the snow/ice :slap: u do kindof deserve it. most cop cars have cameras built in to them. not speed cameras. but the kind that watch ur every move

Regardless of what he was doing I find it very very strange that they called at 1:30am! That has to be some sort of harassment.

I'd say 90% of us on here have seen 100+ more than once when it wasn't on track.

But not in really dangerous conditions...there are limits.

Speed limits are the law dude. We mite go over them from time to time but we know if we get caught its our own fault. You got caught and you have to face up to the fact!!!!

On the other hand if what some of the people here are saying is true (there not real cops) then you got away with it but if they are real you should just take your punishment!!!!!
