If there is a secondary daughter board inside the ecu itself, that is an indication that you have an upgraded aftermarket unit. Has you speed and fuel cut been removed (running more than 12.5psi of boost, can reach speeds over 180kmph) ? Do you feel a surge of power around 5000rpm that feels like another turbo started to spoolup?

I feel this :)

What does it mean?

Check to see if you can red line it mate :)

You may just have an sld???

Also this morning i redlined my car, it went upto approx 8300 rpm then just felt like it was cutting out (coudlnt go any higher) then changed gear, it went to approx 36-38 mph lol!!!!!

Jam, Blitz, TRD and Mines aftermarket ecu's for the 4efte give more aggresive timing at higher rpms than the stock unit. When this happens you can acually feel a surge of additional power. This was done to assist the ct9 which starts to tails off in power and torque around the 6000-6200rpm range. This allowed for a wider powerband. As for all the high reving stock ecu users, I cannot explain this. I am 100% certain that an unasisted stock ecu will not allow you to rev the 4efte far beyond the 7200 redline, much less 8500rpm. Puzzling...

from stock i dont remember the rev limit but i knew i had the stock 112mph restriction, i bought i jam SLD and that stopped the speed cut. I have an FCD so that stops fuel cut.

However more recently i have bounced it off the limiter (unintentionally) but i know it definately goes past 7K revs. I just assume thats the fcd and sld are doing this but im hoping theres a aftermarket ecu in there!

I just checked with another knowlegable member Gorganl. There was a way where some guys in Japan and Australia were replacing a part, a higher resistance diode I believe in the ecu itself to trick it to allow for higher rpm. But this was the rare exception rather than the rule. Pass testing by older members found that the stock tachometers are also generally inacurate, being out by around 300rpms in some instances. When I tested the rpm limit on my Jam ecu, I used a multimeter take the electrical reading directly from the ignition spark to confirm the 8500rpm redline (my tach was saying something different), but 8500 is not the set limit on all these units. Depending on the original setup in Japan, it could range from 8000-8500rpm redline, having said that, all the aftermarket ecu's I have come across were limiting at 8500rpm. Maybe someone with more info can offer some more insight into this.

I think the tacho or the reading for it is out by alot, As you say the stock ECU should not let it go past the limmiter 7200rpm

All i had was a Jam BCC from japan. after i had it on the rollers i took it to 8krpm as the printout show it hit.

My EK9 says im reving past 9k but the limmiter is 8700rpm on stock Ecu.

I dont read my tachometre in the dash, i have an external one which is alot more accurate. I have an external one so i know what my car is idling at so i can adjust it accordingly as the stock is crap. From the external one it goes past 7k and there is a difference of about 400 between the internal and external

well i just tested it again, when i buil up the revs steadily it goes up to 8400 rpm - 8500rpm but hwne i put my foot down a little it shoots up to 8000 rpm, so it definately is above teh 7200 rpm, whats the easist way of looking at the ecu to see its make without taking it out???

My mate who has an ep82 mk3 earlier model just tried it and can only go up to 7300 rpm on standard ecu.

Easiest to just drop it out buddy. =]

is it easy to screw back in mate?

Also once i drop it out do i need to un-plug the harness or is it long enough for me just to pull a bit out to have a look at the make??

just drop down the glovebox matey and undo the two screws there is enough length on the harness to let you have a look at it, u shud av said wen u was at mine and id of had a look !!!!!

adi u have a stock ecu,

the standard clocks in a gt/glanza become inacurate after 70mph, and the needle will go well past the 180kph and then you will feel it cut out.
