sky insurance.. royally pissed off.

so basicallly where do i start?

All started very well, almost too well.

got a quote for 1581 fully comp on my own name. 19 2 year experience and 0 claims bonus but 1 year named driving experience for a glanza.

over the moon i took the policy straight away, paid wat i owed and waited for the papers to arrive threw the post.

4 days later no papers had arrived, so i called them and asked for a reprint to be sent.

A few days later the papers had arrived, and to my confusion basically every detail was wrong on it? the reg number / colour / model / year of registration and many more details were all completely wrong.

i called them up and explained my troubles, and 1 of the guys sorted it out for me by phone, and i asked for a fax copy to be sent over, as my cover note i was supplied with was obviously invalid at the moment.

a days later and still no papers? by this time my old insurance has expired and i chose not to obviously renew the policy.

Inbetween the time waiting for papers to arrive i had asked for another reprint to be sent as i wanted to get it sorted asap, i had also called many times about modifications to see how much it would cost to add them on etc before i did.

no problems had arisen while talking to them, and all seemed sweet as pie...

but would you believe it? 2 weeks today i took the policy out and PAID IN FULL, i recieve a phone call from sky insurance informing me that they have decided that due to my age i am a high risk customer and wont be happy to insure me fully comp anymore, only tpft!???!?

to make matters worse they even had the cheek to tell me they were going to charge me the 2 weeks money that i had been with them for lol!

i asked them surely this matter would of been picked up before you completed the quote? and that surely it doesnt take 2 weeks for it to be realised?

its a complete fucking joke to be honest and i am very very unhappy.

ive never recieved such poor service!

where do i stand on something like this? surely they cant accept my money and my quote and then decide 2 weeks later that they wont longer insure me?

i would like to here what you guys have to say..

also if ollie the sky rep has seen this i would really like a long talk mate as i am not happy at all. im sure what your company has done is illegal and if something isnt sorted out im very tempted to get legal matters into it.

adam mate,ive had the same problem with them recently.total wrist breakers mate,they dont seem to remember anything i told them!!

its not the point they forgot tho, i can deal with that more than happily, its the fact they are now refusing to insure me, even tho they happy quoted me and accepted my money, more than two weeks ago before the matter even arose? its just ridiculous and surely not legal?

im sure my dad read it up and its called "bait and switch", a move now made illegal with tough consiquences for companies..

i dont want to make a big fuss but i really am terribly fustrated / quite upset, because chances are i wont be able to find insurance again for my car.

i am kinda on the same boat.

was quoted 700 fully comp for a pulsar, and when i went to sell up shop i called o make sure it wasnt guna change,...1400 fully comp???? i said why has it doubled and they said i can only go by the underwriter even tho they said on there screen i was given 700 as a rough quote on my details given at the time,..in they said 1100 for a pulsar...didnt sell up as itll prob change again.

my gt,...renewal from admiral was 600fully comp with alloys.

i added the rest of my mods and it was 1100 from sky,i thought id go with that

coilovers ...ect.

then went to add td04,...they wanted roughly 200 more to begin with then i called to put it on and then 375 extra,...and few days ago some one on here said sky arnt charging him anymore to have the td04 put on his!!

if they excepted your money then they should insure what they quoted but if the details were wrong and nothing was signed then they can do what they want....But they must refund your money and I would tell them that obviously they weren't insuring you for those 2 weeks on the correct vehicle so why do you owe them anything?. I hope ollie sorts this out cos its a royal pain in the ass for people who need the car for everyday life.

Speak to a solicitor mate ! Don't think they can just change the policy all of a sudden, especially since you paid and entered an agreement, basically a contract is it not? You pay them xxxx amount, and they cover you fully comp for a year. They just can't go changing it when they want can they ? And surely even if they did, you'd get your money back !

Be interesting to see how sky insurance deal with this.

I'm guessing you have nothing at all in writing off them about the original fully comp insurance quote?

the thing is, i didnt get round to signing anything because they took so bloody long with the paperwork, first time round he sent it out completely wrong, and i havent recieved them a second time apart from a faxed copy?

i said to them no way are they taking any of the money i paid them. im not even properly insured atm just on a covernote!

i really hope i get it sorted out becasue it was a good quote and i cant understand why after all this they decide to say no? it just doesnt make sense why there happy 1 minute the next there not
 
Well in my opinion this is completely unacceptable, they cant just change qoute when they please.
Adam I completely agree with you on this one if an insurance company gives you insurance and takes your money IN FULL they cant just decide to change their mind. Even if they made a mistake thats their fault not yours so why should you suffer?? The only time a insurance company can change your policy is when its up for renewal. The same goes for their qoutes they cant qoute 700 one week and 1400 next week there has to be laws against this.
This is very bad service especially from someone who has been freely allowed to trade on this site and offer our members discount. I really hope that Ollie can sort this out and maybe its just some staff trying to make a quick buck through commission.

i would really like to know where i stand on this, maybe someone in the know with insurance could opt there opinion?

it sounds like to me there just in there for a quick buck and will make money any way possible!

i really hope they can sort this out with me

jesus mate!!! im glad i read this post lol i was gna go with sky after seeing u got such a good quote from them. av they defo took your 2 weeks money from your bank?

If they av mate then i would get the authorities involved cus they just cnt do that when they fucked up, not you. swear down if that happened to me i would be at their head office doorstep demanding an explanation lol. To Ollie@sky insurance plz cud u clear this matter up mate cus this is SERIOUSLLLLY BAAADDD advertising for your company.

and to adam av ya tried quinn direct mate? and there is chris knott insurance, and keith michaels insurance that both claim to specialisein jap imports...but hope this gets resolved lads!

i was with quinn direct before, but they quoted me 3000 for my renewal which is really just mad,

i hadnt bothered to try anyone else as sky was 2nd on my list, and hey i thought its such a good quote i couldnt refuse, but it seems to be just a ploy to as they say "get you in the keep net".

i really do hope this is just a mistake theyve made, and im not trying to piss on there fire, but if this is the way they treat there customers i really think our members deserve to be told!

and no i dont think they have taken any money from my bank, but they said the money would come off the amount given back to me as i had already paid in full, so the refunded money would be minus the amount i owe!

it doesnt look good to be honest, but i do hope it gets sorted soon.

i now have no insurance and am pretty fucked for the minute.

gonna have to take a day off work tomorrow and hunt for insurance again, hopefully one of the lovely people at sky will give me a call or a pm and get this sorted asap.
