Hi,
I have just read this thread, apologies for the late catch up, and thanks to Sammie for the PM.
The issue raised is being taken VERY seriously in the office. I have not seen anything like this happen in my time at Sky Insurance and we can only apologise for the wasted time and inconvenience caused to Adam.
I understand that since you have made this post you have spoken to our underwriting manager, Jae Pearce. As Jae explained, this is a rare situation where we have put you on cover but when the underwriters have received your details, thay have decided that the risk criteria is too great for them so they advised us to either cancel the cover or reduce the cover to TPFT. I must emphasive that this is a very are situation which occurs once or twice a year at the very most. The risk criteria is not just for Adam, the underwriters have decided that anyone under 21 on comprehensive cover is too high risk, so this is the same for all customers in the same circumstance as Adam. Unfortunately as Sky Insurance are an underwriter, there is nothing we can do on this; as much as we'd like to!
Usually the risk criteria is changed on something like a high risk postcode, for example if there have been a high volume of claims in a certain postcode, our underwriters can decide to refuse cover in that postcode.
Just to reiterate, this is a very rare occurance.
Adam, my sincere apologies on behalf of Sky Insurance. You are still insured for the 7 days as mentioned and you have only be charged on a pro rata basis for the time you have had on cover with us.
Regards
